🌙 Ramadan – Reflection, Inclusion, and Support 🌙

As Ramadan begins, the Oxford Brookes BAME Staff Network recognises this important time of reflection, spirituality, and community for many Muslim colleagues and students.

As a multi-faith university, we believe that recognising religious observances — and responding with understanding and practical support — is central to building an inclusive culture rooted in respect and belonging.

To support colleagues and students during Ramadan, we are sharing three connected resources:

1️⃣ YouTube video series
Staff and students share how they would like to be supported during Ramadan, helping to build awareness and inclusive practice.

2️⃣ Inclusive Guide to Teaching and Learning During Ramadan
An evidence-based guide offering practical, easy-to-implement adjustments to support Muslim student wellbeing, engagement, and success.

We stand alongside colleagues and students of all faiths and none, and remain committed to creating a community where everyone feels respected, supported, and able to thrive.

🕊️ Faith, Reflection, and Inclusion 🕊️

Today marks Ash Wednesday, a significant moment of reflection for many Christians and the beginning of Lent.

The Oxford Brookes BAME Staff Network recognises this alongside the many religious and cultural observances celebrated across our diverse community. We are committed to fostering an environment rooted in respect, inclusion, and understanding of different faiths, beliefs, and traditions.

We stand with colleagues and students of all faiths and none, and continue to support a community where everyone feels seen, valued, and respected.

🧧 Happy Chinese New Year 🧧

The Oxford Brookes University BAME Staff Network is delighted to celebrate Chinese New Year with our community and recognise the cultural traditions, histories, and contributions of our Chinese and East Asian colleagues and students.

Moments like this remind us of the importance of inclusion, belonging, and respect for the diverse cultures that make up our university. We are proud to celebrate difference and to continue building a community where everyone feels seen, valued, and supported.

Wishing those celebrating a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year 🎊

A huge thank you to all!

We are overwhelmed with the amount of support we've received for our Donation Drive as part of our celebration of Nelson Mandela International Day. We will be sharing your wonderful donations with Smart Works who are supporting unemployed women in their job application journey. This could not have been possible without your support. Thanks so much, Everyone!

Keep an eye out for our future events!
