I love these cows.

They currently live in the field opposite my house and I like to think they’re cheering for me as I head out for a run and when I come back.

I know in reality they’re actually wonder why I don’t have food for them.

Anyway - who has enjoyed a run in the rain today!!!!

Some runs are about community. We’re lucky to run in a really lovely part of the country, it’s only fair we do our bit to keep it that way!

3 bags full! Run Chums inaugural litter pick! Thanks to Oswestry Scouts for lending us the pickers.

Fancy it?

There are definitely worse places to experience a solar eclipse! Tomorrow we're walking up Rodney's Pillar and we'd love you to join us...

If you're sitting on a coveted London Marathon place the best thing you can do now is speak to a real life human running coach.
Most of us coaches are more than happy to sit down and figure out your first steps and beyond.

If this is your first marathon it's really easy to get distracted by what everybody else is doing, the fancy new kit, the carbon shoes, the noise around who is and isn't a "proper runner" (spoiler alert - there is no such thing as a proper runner!)

I've put together a one-off session to help people figure out what to do first - you get a 45 minute call with me. It's £45 and at the end of it you'll have a 4 week action plan to get you on your marathon journey.

Comment here to book on.

Sooooo, did you accidentally get a place in the London Marathon ballot this year?

Maybe you got a bit caught up in the excitement watching it on the TV and thought "sod it I'll enter - it's not like I'll actually get a place" … and now you’re wondering what on earth you’ve done?

First: congratulations.

Second: don’t panic.

You do not need to have everything figured out today, and you do not need to start a full marathon training plan straight away.

I’ve created a one-off 45-minute coaching session for people who have a London Marathon place and are feeling excited, overwhelmed or completely unsure where to begin.

During the call, we’ll talk through where you are now, what you’re worried about and what your next steps should be.

You’ll leave with a personalised four-week action plan to help you get started with things like:

walking and running
shoes
routes
routine
strength work
parkrun
and when structured marathon training actually needs to begin

The session is £45.

This is not a disguised sales call.

Yes I do offer ongoing coaching and marathon training plans, but there is no obligation to work with me again after this session.

I'll pop the link to book the session in the comments.

If you've got any questions leave a comment or send me a WhatsApp.

And yes, you can still book if you entered the ballot completely seriously.

One of the best things about marathon training is all the running I get to do. (Stick with me on this)

Because when I'm running I get to do some of my best thinking.

Some of those thoughts might be "oh this is a big hill" or "look a dog".

Some (most) of my thoughts are food related.

But when I hit my stride and find that sweet spot of "the zone" that's when the magic really happens and I get to process the day, the week, the month.

And quite often an idea that's been percolating in my brain but hasn't quite fully formed will suddenly all make sense.

Or the missing piece of a puzzle will appear and I know what to do next!

And there's a lot for me to be thinking about at the moment.

Stick around team - I've got ideas brewing into plans... and lots of long runs over summer!

I'd love to know what you think about when running - let me know in the comments...

Week 2 of Marathon Training and I really felt the heat.

Some lessons were handed to me. I will learn from them...

But ultimately this week provided a handy reminder that training plans are just that, plans. And plans change. As a coach when I'm writing your plans I am expecting you to tell me that things have come up and what we thought was the week ahead now looks different. It's my job to navigate that for you and make sure your training is getting you where you want to be no matter what life throws at you.

Side note most exciting lesson I learned this week is that Lidl GB has the best ice lollies. Blue Raspberry, Cherry, and sour cherry and cola ice lollies are the only thing in my freezer now.

Bring on week 3.

This is the second year I’ve been to Oswestry Pride but my first as a stall holder.

Both years I’ve come away with a feeling of pure joy and hope.

I think that’s because it’s unashamedly grassroots and local. It takes place in the park in the town, is free for everybody to wander in, take a look around and enjoy the performances. The parade goes through the town centre too.

I loved seeing people of all ages soaking up the sun and the atmosphere.

It was brilliant chatting to everybody I could and of course I enjoyed seeing all the pets - even a cat!!!! ❤️

As an ally I am proud and happy to support Oswestry Pride in any way I can, not just this Pride month but every day.

Now because I was having way too much fun enjoying myself I forgot to take many photos.
Luckily was there snapping away and photos 1, 5, 6, 7 and 8 are Iain’s.

Pictures 2, 3 and 4 are clearly a bit ropey and are mine!
