Our weekly classes start next week, 13th April. Unless stated all courses are designed to introduce beginners to the benefits of working with clay. Well...not just working with clay (quiet focus, new confidence, creative discovery) but also the connection found from working together. Come along and try it...you might get hooked but hey!

Anyone else struggling to get work out of their heads this Easter? Time off work with family is so precious I try all sorts to stay in the present and not think about running a business.

Yesterday Storm Dave provided just what I needed to get out of my head. 'Blowing the cobwebs away' so true! It felt amazing to be hit with the elements, wind rain...so cold!

Let me know what you did this Easter to get work things to do one!

What do you do? It's a bit like Christmas...an eagerly anticipated package arrives. Do you whip the packaging off immediately or do you savouring amd prolong the feeling of anticipation and excitement?

There was only one thing I was ever going to do...🥳🤣

Are you a waiter or are you a rip the wrapper of straight away kinda person?

This is a new Potterycrafts Topworker 120. It's shiny and green (my favourite colour) and will transform how we fire ceramics made at the Claypit.

Smaller kiln = speedier turnaround

It's arrival in the studio means work made by our Members and Makers will be fired and returned to them much quicker. From first hand experience I know how important this is for the flow of ideas and in turn motivation to keep going. Waiting for a kiln to fill up is about as demotivating as watching paint dry!

Now....to work out how I get it through the door 🤪

It's this weekend! Saturday 1st Nomember 10am-12pm at the Claypit in Oswestry, Shropshire. Our NEW family pottery sessions are the best crafty sessions around for 6-11 year olds and their grownups. Only 9 spaces remaining!

They are a commitment-free hands-on, messy, real clay experience where everyone, both adults and children will enjoy one of life's best activities (in my opinion) making with clay!

It's make your own Christmas week! Perhaps a personalised mug? These sessions will be very relaxed and are intended to be a unique shared experience and a lovely opportunity to bond and share the magic of clay together. Maximum 16 participants in total. 

To make sure everyone has a brilliant time there is a maximum of 3 children per adult

£16.50ppn if you book online in advance or rock up on the day. If you need to do this it will just a bit more expensive and the session might already be full. Only 9 spaces remaining!

Improving access is so important! The more people whose hands we can get on clay the better. From tiny tots to seasoned potters, I have yet to find anyone who doesn't like to play with a bit of clay.
If you have a studio of any kind, find a way to open it up to others. The benefit will be mutual, I promise!

From slowing down, a digital detox, a space to meet lovely new people, a place to learn a new skill and discover what your hands are made for!

It's a phrase I return to time and time again. A mantra that can serve us well in so many parts of life.

My handbuilding/life metaphor: have a rough idea and then just see what happens. If you build too qu**ky or without consideration you might have a partial of full collapse. If you do, don't panic, take stock, find the foundations, trust your ideas, and rebuild.

We got new aprons 🥳 not sure why I waited so long, but I bloody love mine!

Thanks to the amazing small biz offer from I was able to get the whole team one. And the brilliant local embroidered the logo. Give me a 🤎 if you agree that they look great too. Perfect Claypit colour. Big pocket for me to loose pencils, my phone, random bits of plastic bag, small bit of clay...etc

Don't wait for tomorrow. Do it today 😃

Get into the flow. Slow down. Take your time. Let the clay have a say! It's harder than you think.

After 4 weeks on our Claypit Thursday morning Ceramics for All course, I think these wonderful Claypit studio makers have found their groove for sure!
