Outstanding A Level Results 2026!

We are incredibly proud to celebrate another fantastic set of A Level results at Newstead Wood School:

82% of all grades at A*-B
53% of all grades at A*-A

Several subjects achieved 90% or more A*-B grades including Art, Classics, Computer Science, Economics, Geography, German, History, Psychology and Religion, Philosophy & Ethics.

These strong academic outcomes have translated into exceptional post-18 destinations. As ever, the vast majority of students have secured places at their first-choice university or destination, while twelve students have successfully gained places at the Universities of Oxford or Cambridge, reflecting both the aspirations of the students and the strength of the school’s academic provision.

These outstanding results reflect the hard work and determination of our students and the dedication and support of our staff.

It has been wonderful to see so many smiling faces celebrating today!

Congratulations to the Class of 2026 – we are incredibly proud of you and look forward to sharing your exciting next steps soon. Congratulations to the Class of 2026 – we are incredibly proud of you and look forward to sharing your exciting next steps soon.

What a fantastic way to celebrate the end of another successful school year!

Our annual Commemoration Day was filled with celebration, achievement and school spirit. Students embraced the Hollywood theme with incredible outfits before gathering for year group assemblies to celebrate this year's awards and successes.

The celebrations continued on the school field, where the energy, music, laughter and vibrant atmosphere made for a memorable end to the year.

Wishing all of our students, staff and families a happy, restful summer—we can't wait to welcome everyone back in September!

What a fantastic celebration of culture, community and diversity at this year's ACE (Asian Cultural Event).

Our school was filled with colour, music, dance and incredible performances as students came together to celebrate the rich traditions and cultures that make up our community. From vibrant performances to delicious food and engaging activities, the event showcased the talent, enthusiasm and teamwork of our students.

A huge thank you to everyone who performed, organised, volunteered and supported the event. Your hard work and dedication made it such a memorable occasion.

Events like ACE are a wonderful reminder of the strength of our inclusive community and the importance of celebrating the cultures, traditions and experiences that bring us together.

On Monday 13th July, 60 students from Year 9 visited Bletchley Park, the home of the group of code breakers who, during WW2, worked tirelessly to intercept and de-code German encrypted messages. It was Alan Turing who masterminded the cracking of the German Enigma cipher, which innovated codebreaking and shortened the war by several years. The photo below shows Turing's office at Bletchley. Students also participated in a workshop on personal cyber security - parents should ask their advice of keeping their personal information safe online!
Thank you to the Year 9 students who came on the trip and to the following colleagues - Ms Brazier, Ms Renganathan, Mr Stonestreet and Mr Davies who, despite being delayed for several hours on the return journey remained cheerful and forbearing.

We are incredibly proud of Team Vidyavahini!

Our amazing Year 9 students were named Overall Runners-Up and won the Most Funds Raised Award at this year’s Wings of Hope Achievement Awards (WOHAA).

Through teamwork, creativity and determination, they have raised thousands of pounds for charity and shown the power of young people to make a real difference. They are a true credit to Newstead Wood School, and we couldn’t be prouder of all they have achieved.

Congratulations, Team Vidyavahini!

Newstead Monsters Return to Crofton Junior School!

Tuesday marked the third year of our much-loved textiles collaboration with Crofton Junior School, a project that brings together creativity, design and plenty of excitement.

Earlier this year, Crofton’s Year 3 pupils created drawings of their very own cuddly monsters. Each design was then passed to a Year 9 student at Newstead, who was challenged to interpret the drawing and transform it into a three-dimensional felt toy as part of their textiles studies.

After weeks of designing, pattern-making, stitching and manufacturing, our Year 9 students returned to Crofton to present the finished monsters to their original creators. It was wonderful to see the pupils meet, discuss their designs and witness the journey from imaginative sketch to completed product.

The excitement in the room was infectious, and the Year 3 pupils were thrilled to receive their unique handmade monsters. It is always one of the highlights of our year, showcasing creativity, craftsmanship and the joy of collaboration between our two school communities.
