As we reach the end of this term, we thought we would share some stats from the hub. As each year goes by, the NCCE programme continues to grow and more teachers and students are benefiting from the CPD and vast resources we provide.
This year we loaned out
o 306 Crumbles
o 272 Micro:bits
o 55 Data Loggers
o 20 Beebots
o 60 Raspberry Pi Picos
to local schools, engaging young people in the hands-on experience of learning computing.
We held a well attended Computing Conference in November, and a student event in London in May, encouraging girls into computer science
This Summer we have been busy, attending both student and teacher events in London, including
o AI in Computer Science, University of Westminster
o Cisco Expo, UCL
o Technicians Conference, Surbiton High School
o STEM Technicians Conference, City and Islington College
o London South East+ Maths Hub Summer Conference, London
o Festival of Engineering, UCL
promoting computer science in schools
Within our hub area, this year nearly 500 teachers enrolled on various of our programmes/certificates, including our three Secondary Certificates - if you have enrolled on your certificate but have yet to complete it, now is the perfect time to do so ready for the new September term.
Remember, if you are changing schools this year, don't forget to update your STEM profile with your new details
We hope you have a restful Summer break shortly and we will be back on Wednesday 4 September.

Empowering the Future Computer Scientists: Interactive Learning and Career Insights at Just Eat Takeaway
The London Surrey & West Sussex Computing Hub recently collaborated with Just Eat Takeaway to organise an engaging student event at their impressive office in London EC4. The event focused on KS3 students, with a special emphasis on encouraging more girls to explore Computer Science.
The event kicked off with an interactive quiz where students eagerly participated by scanning codes on their devices and voting on entertaining statistical questions. After the quiz, students teamed up with STEM ambassadors for a 'Coding Challenge', which involved creating a menu, placing orders, and calculating the total cost.
An all-female panel of Just Eat Takeaway Ambassadors shared their career paths, qualifications, and daily responsibilities. Students were able to ask their questions, after catching a giant padded cube microphone, making the session lively and engaging.
The event wrapped up with a tour of Just Eat Takeaway’s cutting-edge office, providing over 50 students with an inspiring glimpse into the operations of a global tech company.

We are so proud to launch our new programme, I Belong: encouraging girls into computer science.
Computer science is the fastest-growing STEM subject, yet, despite its popularity, girls are consistently outnumbered by boys, making up just one in five entries at GCSE.
Funded by Department for Education, our programme will empower you to:
💻 understand factors affecting girls' uptake in computer science
🏫 work with colleagues to make computer science in your school more inclusive
🏆 advocate for our mission by becoming an I Belong Champion

STEM Clubs Week is a collection of free STEM enrichment opportunities, celebrating extracurricular STEM engagements that raise student aspirations, increase Science Capital and provide a focus for organisations and individuals to share their passion for their work.
The STEM Clubs programme provides a series of learning opportunities for students, educators, families and friends to participate in, from live webinars to pre-recorded video premiers.
The content is provided by individuals and organisations across the UK who provide content to support the overarching theme and to fit within specific themed days.
Held annually, this year's event takes place between 03 – 07 July.
This years theme: AI, THE WORLD AND YOU
Looks at how AI and machine learning impacts on our daily lives, the potential future, what it means to us, the need for ethical codes and a greater understanding of the benefits and limitations of AI.
This year we will be asking schools to hold in-school discussions and debates about AI, looking closely at the ethics involved and testing how much you think you know. Suitable for young people aged from 8 to 18+.
Learn more about the AI in your life from our scheduled mix of live webinars and pre-recorded sessions hosted on our YouTube playlist. The schedule of events is still being finalised, key aspects are listed below - check back weekly to see the diary of events develop and to make sure you and your school are involved.
