We’re honestly a little blown away by this. 💚

Supporting Communities have written such a lovely piece about our Future Farmers programme with MACCA in Omagh this summer, and reading it back has really reminded us why we started Learning Made Fun in the first place.

Our whole aim has always been to give children learning with a purpose — getting them outside, asking questions, using real tools and technology, getting their hands dirty, solving problems and understanding that what they learn can actually make a difference in the real world.

To see the children’s confidence, curiosity and ownership of the project recognised like this means a huge amount to both of us.

A massive thank you to Peggy and everyone at MACCA for taking a chance on something a little different, and to everyone who helped make the week possible.

We’re very proud of what the children achieved. 💚🌱

Give your child an after-school experience unlike any standard club. Our brand-new 6-week CREATE Club at Moneydarragh Hub is an immersive STEAM program where children get real, individual access to advanced equipment and rare experiences most schools just don't offer.

From investigating insects under high-powered microscopes and building working wormeries to exploring drone technology and experiencing a live visit from a professional beekeeper (complete with suit, smoker, and fresh honeycomb tasting!), your child won't just learn about farming—they’ll become problem solvers for the future! 🐝🔬🤖

A little bit of beekeeper wisdom from our Future Farmers Camp at MACCA, Omagh — learning straight from the experts 🐝

Majella and I couldn’t be happier right now, but this year has been an absolute whirlwind. Returning from Vietnam, we embraced our chaotic, "bougie" life in a garage for nine months. (I actually miss my morning coffee on the ride-on lawnmower.) Then, a three-month rental before packing up again and moving into my parents' house in Donegal for a month to launch our first-ever CREATE camps.

Why Donegal? The thinking wasn't deep. As temporary teachers, we don't get holiday pay. We had to work, but we love Rossnowlagh and wanted to pretend we were getting our usual teacher summer break by the beach.

Getting there required enormous behind-the-scenes work. Doing this for the first time, we figured everything out from scratch: navigating cross-border insurance rules, child protection data, payments, and balancing costs. We juggled four locations and five camps—some as external providers, others completely independent.

Planning was the longest stage, but we poured everything into the curriculum to make it exactly what we envisioned. These weren't just activities to keep kids busy—and we certainly weren't sticking macaroni to paper plates. We built nature-rooted projects to inspire the next generation. We had children using advanced technology and specialized equipment to solve problems and contribute to their community, moving beyond basic memorization. Every week was a unique experience of learning through purpose.

Seeing it come together was indescribably rewarding. We’re motivated by purpose over profit, but frankly, both came through. None of this was possible without the families who trusted us, our friends, and the small businesses that helped.

Coming home to communities that genuinely look out for each other makes us so appreciative. There's something special about this island, and we keep getting signals from the universe that we made the right choice.

We’re so happy to be back, sharing what we’ve learned. Thank you to everyone who made this summer happen. And for everyone in Annalong—keep watching this space, because more projects are coming here very soon!

Did you know that around 75% of the world’s major food crops depend, at least partly, on animal pollination? 🐝🌾

Yet modern intensive farming has helped create a serious problem.

Fewer hedgerows. Fewer wildflowers. Heavy pesticide use. Loss of habitats. Declining insect populations.

And when we lose insects, we don’t just lose bugs.

We lose pollinators. Natural pest control. Nutrient recycling. Healthy soils. And ultimately, some of the natural systems our food production depends upon.

The farmers of the future therefore face a huge challenge: how do we produce enough food while restoring, rather than stripping away, the ecosystems that make farming possible?

That’s why our Future Farmers built a Minibeast Hotel.

Not simply as a craft project — but as a small-scale lesson in regenerative, biodiversity-friendly farming. The children had to think like the farmers of tomorrow: create habitat, encourage beneficial species and design food production around nature rather than against it.

Because preparing children for the future shouldn’t just mean teaching them about the problems they’ll inherit.

It should mean giving them opportunities to start designing the solutions. 🌱
