🌟 What a week it’s been at RCA! 🌟

It’s been a busy one, with lots to celebrate across the academy!

πŸ’ͺ Our Year 7 students took part in an Army Cadet Day, developing their teamwork, resilience and communication skills. What a fantastic effort from everyone involved β€” well done, Year 7! πŸ‘

🍫 We’ve also been celebrating students who consistently do the right thing β€” arriving on time, attending every day and showing our RCA values in action. These students were treated to some well-deserved treats as a thank you for their continued commitment. πŸŽ‰

A huge well done to all of our students who have worked hard, shown resilience and made positive choices this week. Keep it up, RCA! πŸ’™

πŸ’› World Mental Health Day at RCA πŸ’›

On Friday 9th October, we’ll be coming together at E-ACT Royton and Crompton Academy to recognise World Mental Health Day and remind everyone that looking after our mental health matters.

πŸ’› Staff and students are invited to wear a touch of yellow on the day, with students able to add a yellow accessory or item to their school uniform.

Throughout the day, we’ll have:
✨ Form time activities focused on mental health and wellbeing
🍰 A cake sale
πŸ“ Information stations with useful advice and support

A great opportunity to talk, learn, listen and remind each other that it’s okay to not be okay and it’s important to ask for help when you need it.

πŸ“–βœ¨ National Poetry Day at RCA! βœ¨πŸ“–

This week, we’ve been celebrating National Poetry Day, with this year’s theme being WONDER.

Our KS3 students have been exploring what they wonder about and turning their thoughts and questions into poetry. They’ve also been looking closer to home, using our local area as inspiration for their ideas and writing. πŸ“πŸŒ

A fantastic opportunity for students to get creative, explore their imagination and see the world around them in a different way. πŸ’βœ¨

Well done, KS3! πŸ‘

πŸ”¬ Science in action at RCA!

Our Year 9 students have been developing their scientific skills by drawing and interpreting graphs showing the rate of photosynthesis. πŸŒ±πŸ“ˆ

Meanwhile, Year 10 have been getting up close with onion cells, creating their own specimens and carefully drawing what they could see under the microscope. πŸ§…πŸ”¬

Great practical work and scientific thinking from both year groups! πŸ‘

Yesterday, our Year 8 and Year 9 students took part in a Barclays Life Skills session, learning about fraud and scams and how to spot potential risks online. πŸ”

Students also explored how AI can be used to support them when entering a competition, developing their awareness of using technology safely and responsibly.

A big thank you to Talent Foundry for the engaging and useful session for our students!πŸ‘
