What a wonderful weekend celebrating 100 years of the Ardnamurchan Local Mòd.
It was a real pleasure and privilege to return for my third year as an adjudicator. Yesterday I had a fantastic day listening to some fantastic young singers from across the area and catching up with friends, both old and new.
This evening was particularly special, with the exhibition celebrating a century of Mòd Àird Nam Murchan (Ardnamurchan Local Mòd), followed by a ceilidh showcasing the incredible talent within the community. It was lovely to hear so many performers taking to the stage, and I was delighted to contribute a wee song myself before making my way home on the last ferry from Ardgour.
A huge thank you to Riona , Megan and the rest of the committee for their warm welcome and for inviting me back again this year. Congratulations to everyone involved in organising such a memorable celebration of 100 years of Gaelic language, music and culture on the Ardnamurchan peninsula!
Tomorrow it's off to the Killin Music Festival, where I'll be performing with Aberfeldy Gaelic Choir and adjudicating some competitions as part of the community day.
I feel very lucky to have opportunities like these – supporting performers as an adjudicator while continuing to enjoy performing myself 💜 🎶
