Forest School should always be child-led.
🌳 I stand back, i observe.
🌳 I enhance interests with sharing knowledge and researching together.
🌳 I encourage a curious child to experiment and find out what works and what doesn't even when i already know the answer. They learn quicker this way along with learning to risk assess themselves.
🌳 I tell children that just giving things a go is good enough. No failure here.
Sometimes it doesn't look like much is happening on the surface but i am forever noticing and seeing the deeper meaning of a child's action/interests and interactions and a small thing can be a web of learning underneath it all.

"Be Kind to nature, yourself and eachother" is the most important message we discuss at the beginning of sessions. We sing it, we say it. ❤️

I'm a collector of nature books pre-1940 and i found these 2 beautiful books recently and inside one was a pressed leaf with writing on dated 1906.
Beyond excited as this find 🥰

Some things we learn through child-led exploring outdoors.
None of today's learning was in a plan, just a child's curiosity and ad-hoc learning right there and then.
There are so many opportunities to learn when outside and a child's curiosity about what they have found can lead to many new learning opportunities and discussions.
