Me again therapy helps overwhelmed and anxious women to feel in control so that they can live life with ease.

This may present as driving anxiety, panic attacks, a crippling fear of driving on motorways or an inability to get in the car and just go.

I dream of a world where all Women can get behind the wheel of a car and feels safe & confident to drive 🚘️ 🚘️ 🚘️ 🚘️ 🚘️

The opportunity you have right now is to focus on the confident driver you know you once were (and still are) vs the self doubting voice which is keeping you too safe, avoidance and scared 🚦

The big myth I want to point out is that more overthinking, more route planing and more driving practise is not the answer (if it was you’d be driving on the motorway already....

This is the difference between wanting to be a confident driver and feeling safe driving. Since 2020 I've helped other women overcome driving anxiety and based on 1 fundamental belief that driving anxiety takes place in your mind and you body and that where the solution is 💡

Driving lessons are a practical and rational solution but you aren’t dealing with logic you are living in fear & panic and that happens in your mind and you body. If you passed your driving test you don’t need more lessons. You need to start trusting yourself that even when it feels uncomfortable you’ll be alright!

Because when you stop focusing on the worst that can happen and instead focus on what you can control everything changes

When I did this everything changed!!!

Here's exactly what that looked like:
⭐️ A clear focus on driving freedom whether thats a physical destination or a road(s) to conquer

⭐️ Step by step guidance helping you to make the small manageable changes each day to feel safe driving

⭐️ Recognising thoughts which help you to thrive and those that are based in a perceived threat

⭐️ Letting go of old fears that keep you stuck, who needs shame when you can feel confident driving... Am I right ladies?

⭐️ Feeling in control of what your body is telling you, discomfort can mean progress when you know that you can feel it and still be okay driving

The non-negotiable actions to feel safe driving are working with someone who not only understands the struggle but had overcome driving anxiety themselves and now has driving freedom in abundance 😎 🚗

The change I'm here for is that every woman is free to drive wherever she wants, whenever she wants without fear or feeling like she’s going to pass out 👏

The opportunity we have right now is to stop overthinking and start focusing on your goal of driving freedom, every thought you think can move you towards freedom reducing anxiety and builds your confidence 💡

The big myth I want to point out is that you don’t need more driving lessons 🚗, You already know how to drive, you just lost your confidence for a while but you can get it back in abundance! 💯

Driving anxiety takes place in your mind and that’s exactly where the change needs to take place too 😉

If you are ready to feel in control driving freely get in touch - you could be driving confidently in as little as 5 weeks 🚙 🛣️

As a previous over thinker I thought if I could give it more thought, if I could just consider all of the possible outcomes I could find the solution. But here lies the problem… I wasn’t getting any closer to the solution, in fact, my overthinking was making things worse!

And overthinking is a little like the chicken and the egg scenario, which came first? Was it the sheer panic I felt in every sell of my body, was it the thought of causing a 10 car pile up on the motorway or was it the panic attack I vividly remember on the M1.

Anxiety is often multi layered… It’s the avoidance, the overthinking, the fear and the heart palpitations, convincing myself I can get on the motorway and the last minute detour because I know I’ll pass out once I’m on it. Telling myself “I’ll try again tomorrow, I’ll be able to do it tomorrow” and nothing really changing except I can work myself into a panic attack quicker that the week before…

The secret about overthinking is that if it worked your driving anxiety would be fixed… And if you’ve read this far then I suspect it hasn’t resolved itself by another sleepless night, your mind spiralling out of control.

There is some good news though… you already have all of the skills you need to start reducing your anxiety and building your confidence behind the wheel, we just need to change the direction your creative imagination takes… and we do that making small manageable changes both during our sessions together and each time you think about driving.

Because driving anxiety starts in the mind the solution also takes place in the mind and accessing your subconscious mind helps you to make these changes easily and effortlessly.

Okay lets talk about the gap…

The gap between where you are now absolutely terrified to drive, fearing for your life on a daily basis 😱 📅

And where you want to be driving freely without giving it a second thought 😎 🚘️

Now I know these two ends of the gap feel like night 🌃 and day 🌇 but the secret about the gap is that it closes with each ridiculously small step in the right direction 🦶

And when I say step what I really mean is keeping one eye on the goal of driving freedom and another on those intrusive thoughts which keep you stuck at home wondering where your confidence went 👀

Over the last 7 years I have identified the difference between Women who continue to struggle with driving anxiety and those that leave it behind them as they head out for the next fun day out at the coast, park, retail park (insert your dream drive here)......

And that is that they stop thinking and thinking about the how driving scares them and they start focusing on what they can do… everything changes!

⭐️ I can think about my car without panic

⭐️ I can pick the keys up and sit in the car and feel ok

⭐️ I can start the engine and stay calm

⭐️ I can drive across that junction that used to fill me with fear and feel the joy coming back

⭐️I 'm thinking about driving on the motorway - I'm doing it on Saturday!

⭐️ I got on the motorway for one junction, I did it, I bloody did it!

⭐️ I did it again! And again! And I really enjoy driving

⭐️ I drove all the way to Yarmouth and enjoyed the day without worrying about the drive home 🪣 ♠️ 🏖️

⭐️ And I can drive all the way home too

And it’s these small (at first) ridiculously small steps that start compounding into a hop, skip and a jump into driving freedom 🦘

And sooner or later you can get in the car and driving without thinking about it 🚘️ 😎

If this is your dream and you’re on the other side of the gap needing some support to start making some teeny tiny steps towards driving freedom let’s chat, we can hop skip and jump you over the murky waters of the gap together 🌏️ 👯‍♀️

Driving anxiety can feel confusing, frightening, and deeply isolating — especially when it appears after years of confident driving. I know exactly what it feels’ like to have years of confident driving and in the ‘blink of an eye’ feel all of it drain away.

Like many women I developed driving anxiety following a panic attack at the wheel, but others develop it by witnessing an accident, or being involved in a collision, even if they previously drove without a second thought.

One of the most distressing aspects of driving anxiety is not understanding what is happening in your body. A common fear I hear from clients is:

“What if I faint while driving?”
“How do I know this isn’t something medical?”
“What if I lose control on the motorway?”

This fear often leads to avoidance — first motorways, then dual carriageways, and eventually driving altogether. Your comfort zone gets smaller as anxiety convinces you there is danger everywhere. It can feel especially difficult if you have experienced fainting at one point in your life. The anxiety about fainting at the wheel can be amplified by your past experience it.

Understanding the difference between panic attacks and fainting (vasovagal syncope) is a crucial step in overcoming driving anxiety and rebuilding confidence.

The belief that drives everything I do is that driving anxiety isn’t about pushing through and driving more, it’s about finding the balance between that part you that is scared and that part of you used to feel confident driving

I got tired of seeing exposure therapy as the answer and more women having panic attacks, terrified of getting in the car the next day. Me again therapy exist because too many women suffer in silence, thinking they are the only ones who have lost their confidence to drive.

Driving anxiety isn’t something to hide and it is possible to overcome it in a big way!

I teach anxious drivers how to how to reduce their anxiety and increase their confidence to cope on any road. You leave with life long skills meaning there are more confident and capable women drivers keeping our roads safe!

I am the biggest cheerleader to you enjoying driving that you didn’t realise you needed!

I'm not shy at blowing my own trumpet but I'd much rather hear it from a wonderful female driver conquering the motorway one junction at a time.

Jodie has helped me to open up my world again, a world which had shrunk considerably due to driving anxiety - specifically motorways. Having always been a confident driver I found myself using avoidance and confined to short, familiar journeys, very rarely making it into fifth gear. I thought this type of anxiety was unique to me so was delighted to find Jodie with her expertise and skill set.

My sessions with Jodie were wonderful. She instantly put me at ease. I felt taken care of throughout. Listened to, understood, all without judgement. The pace of our sessions were such that I never felt hurried.

Jodie took the time to do a thorough assessment of my situation, discuss my goals and hopes and from there planned our sessions. She continually evaluated to make any tweaks needed. I was so grateful for this tailored approach.

It has been a relief to have a safe place with Jodie. My confidence and belief in myself has grown.

Turns out this girl can! I made it into fifth gear and even a couple of junctions on the motorway!

Another empowered driver making our roads safe!

Wouldn't it be liberating to get in the car and not have to consider ...

Is this a panic attack or am I about to faint?

But right now, the thought of getting in the car fills you with dread!

Rationally you know you can do it but when you approach busy traffic your hands start to sweat, your heart rate increases, you start to feel dizzy and you think you’re going to pass out.

The gap is almost never your logical mind… it’s your subconscious mind over protecting you, cranking up the physical symptoms “sweaty palms”, “faster heart beat” & “panic attacks” to get you to stop the thing it has perceived as dangerous. And even when you’ve been doing it all of your life, suddenly your body has other ideas and they get stronger the more you ignore them.

When you know that the answer lies with the subconscious mind and your nervous system feeling safe driving feels so much more doable. Even knowing the significant difference between panic and fainting can help you make a switch...

Today's blog clearly defines the difference between the two and what you can do to discover the root cause of driving anxiety...
