As we move into a new year and new term, it’s an ideal time for students to sharpen their exam technique and focus on what examiners are really looking for in readiness for this summer’s GCSE exams.

The AQA English Literature Paper 1 exam (Shakespeare & 19th-Century text) takes place on Monday 11th May 2026. To support students at this crucial stage of revision, I’ll be running two focused masterclasses, both designed to show students exactly how to approach the exam and meet examiner expectations.

* How to break down and annotate a past AQA exam question
* How to write a clear, conceptual thesis statement that directly answers the question
* A step-by-step essay structure
* How to select, embed and analyse quotations in line with the mark scheme
* How to link language analysis to themes and writer’s intentions to access higher bands
* Access to model essays to see how to achieve top grades
