A message from BeatFeet:
Jude recently experienced a stroke, which understandably came as a shock. The good news is that she is now home and making really positive progress in her recovery.
Right now, sheβs taking some time to rest and focus on getting her strength back. In the meantime, BeatFeet will continue to deliver workshops in other capacities, so our work and rhythm still carries on.
Jude is already looking forward to gradually returning when the time is right.
Thank you so much for your continued support, encouragement and understanding π

Great to be at the Captivate Conference with brilliant conversations alongside Janet (When Women Gather) and Charm (This Girl Can Nottingham).
Hearing from Michael from Arts Council England really echoed what we see in practice at BeatFeet:
βοΈ Creativity is a core life skill, not an add-on
βοΈ Arts need equal status in education
βοΈ Partnerships beyond schools are essential to reduce inequalities
βοΈ And we need better ways to show impact through clear data and evidence
One key point that stuck:
The system isnβt aligned - schools, arts organisations and communities often work separately.
Thatβs exactly where BeatFeet sits π in that space between school and community π΅ using rhythm, movement and culture to connect, engage and build confidence.
A reminder that creative and cultural education belongs in everyday life, not just the classroom.

βοΈ Congratulations Tatenda! βοΈ
Fantastic work in the community π
St Ann's dad Tatenda Chitsamba started a community project after he was concerned for his young daughter's safety at playgrounds after spotting "needles and bottles everywhere".
The 30-year-old launched 'Bantu Notts CIC' in November 2025 with his goal to make Nottingham city parks safer places for children to play. He also wants to provide safe spaces for young people in the area to express themselves free of judgment or worry.
"Growing up, for me, I found there were no spaces for young people to come and express themselves," he said -"providing one now gives me so much joy."
Tatenda runs a session in St Ann's called 'Music hut' every Thursday at 6pm in collaboration with Hope Hut, aimed mostly at primary school children in the area, but young people of all ages are welcome. Hope Hut is an organisation founded in 2018 that aims to be a safe space for people in St Annβs to find hope and a supportive community.
During his 'Music Hut' sessions, Tatenda teaches children skills such as journaling and playing the drums. His latest movement is called 'Turning junk into joy', an exercise where young people use recycled materials to create new instruments.
Tatenda said he hopes this will encourage children to think about their environment and the importance of keeping green spaces clean.
