"Coming to Futures felt more like meeting up with friends than attending a course, which made the learning far more enjoyable."

That's what one of our learners said - and it captures something we work really hard to create.

Our courses aren't like going back to school, they're relaxed, supportive and designed around real people with real lives.

Whether you're thinking about a career in care, education, customer service, or something else entirely, our free courses are a brilliant first step - and you don't need any previous experience to get started.

What does a career in healthcare actually look like?

Last week, students from The Wells Academy got to find out for themselves – spending time at Nottingham CityCare Partnership as part of our pilot work experience project with EMCCA Careers Hub.

They took part in hands-on activities, heard from healthcare professionals first-hand, and had the chance to ask the questions that really matter – including busting a few myths about what working in health and care is really like.

A big thank you to Emma Cross and the CityCare team for such a brilliant session – and to The Wells Academy for bringing their students along 💚

For many people, stepping into a real workplace for the first time - or meeting the people who might hire you - is a genuinely life-changing experience.

Seeing or hearing about the day-to-day reality of a job can spark something that no other kind of lesson can. It turns "maybe one day" into "actually, I could do this."

At Futures, we believe everyone deserves moments like that. That's why we work with companies across the region to set up taster days, chances to meet employers or visits to different workplaces.

These photos show off some of the recent experiences our learners have had - would you like these opportunities?

These lovely images show the amazing experience that students from Stone Soup Academy had with us recently! 🤩

We supported them on a two-hour visit to Nottingham City Council Housing Services, where the students got hands-on with real trade skills.

They had a go at plastering, wiring a socket, building a cabinet and assembling plumbing pipework and fittings 🔧

But it wasn't just about the practical activities - hearing directly from Lisa Porter and her team of apprentices about their own career journeys helped bring the possibilities to life in a way no classroom could.

This is what inspiring young people looks like. We're grateful to Nottingham City Council Housing Services and for our partnership with the EMCCA Careers Hub, which made the visit possible.
