May is the month of Mary and today FS led us in a beautiful celebration of the role Mary played as Jesus' mother. The children honoured Mary through prayer and reflection and shared their appreciation for their own mothers with wonderful paintings and heartfelt words about what their Mums mean to them.

Happy Earth Day! ๐ŸŒŽ
To celebrate Earth Day, Mrs Hoyle has created an incredible cupcake tree and will give out special stickers to the children to mark their green lunch choices.
A reminder of some tips from our wonderful Eco Warriors on how you can help the environment this Earth Day:
โ€ข Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: Avoid single-use plastic and recycle whenever possible; repair items instead of discarding them and buy second-hand.
โ€ข Remember to turn off the tap while you are brushing your teeth.
โ€ข Remember to turn off lights when not in use.

๐ŸŽ‰ Positive news for Rushcliffe school!

Today the government announced the next wave of Best Start school-based nurseries, creating thousands more places in over 300 schools from September.

Iโ€™m really pleased that St Edmund Campion Catholic Primary School in West Bridgford will be one of the schools getting a new nursery.

Weโ€™ve already halved childcare costs, and weโ€™re not stopping until every child gets the best start in life.

โ„น๏ธ Details of phase 3 of the programme and funding which will be provided via local authorities is available here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/school-based-nursery-capital-grant-2027-to-2030

Celebrations for World Book Day are in full swing this week โ€“ the children look incredible in their costumes today and will be enjoying book-themed treats at lunchtime. Weโ€™ve been very lucky to welcome a local visiting author, Rob Hann, and there is still time for pupils to take part in our book swap and family book quiz! ๐Ÿ“š

Exceeded all expectations at the Rushcliffe Boys 7 aside, winning 4 out of 5 group games to get through to the semi-finals (no mean feat) before bowing out to Lady Bay 2-1 on penalties. Tremendous team performance sprinkled with individual magic. ๐Ÿ‘

Here is my leaving gift to the school- a mosaic of our school badge commissioned by a local artist Julie Vernon. Bought by A Blake and the School Association. What a beautiful piece of art to be enjoyed for years to come.
