🇰🇪 Rushcliffe Expedition to Kenya – Tsavo to Mount Kenya 🌍

What an incredible few days for the Rushcliffe expedition team in Kenya! 🇰🇪

We have now finished our time at Tsavo, where the students have experienced an amazing mix of adventure, wildlife, community projects and cultural experiences.

🌿 Eco trek, safari & bushcraft – We explored the incredible Tsavo landscape, developed bushcraft skills and enjoyed some unforgettable wildlife encounters. 🐘🦒

🏠 Supporting the local community – The team helped a local family build their new home, getting stuck into painting, making bricks and laying cement flooring. A fantastic opportunity to make a real difference.

🏫 Marungu Primary School – We visited the local primary school, where the students helped make bricks, paint classrooms and repair the school floor. The hard work and enthusiasm from everyone has been brilliant!

🐐 Goat worming – The team also visited a homestead near Mkameny, helping with goat worming and learning more about life within the local community.

🐘 Elephant deterrent fencing – Another important project saw the students helping to complete elephant deterrent fencing, supporting the local community in reducing human-elephant conflict.

🪘 Maasai culture – Before leaving Tsavo, we visited a Maasai village, where the students joined in with traditional dancing and enjoyed a fascinating tour of the village. A brilliant way to finish our time in Tsavo!

🏔️ Next stop… Mount Kenya!

We have now moved on to our forest camp near Mount Kenya, where we are preparing for the next major challenge – our 5-day hike! ⛰️🥾

What an incredible experience so far, and there is still so much more to come! 🇰🇪❤️

Another incredible few days for our Rushcliffe expedition team in Kenya. 🇰🇪✨

Our students have been hard at work at a local school, spent a morning in a nearby village learning weaving and coconut‑prep skills, and even enjoyed some well‑earned time at the beach.

The team then headed to Diani Beach to carry out a micro‑plastic survey followed by a full beach clean‑up — and they absolutely smashed it.

Rushcliffe officially set two new records:

• Heaviest single bag collected: 24kg
• Total weight collected: over 75kg

Phenomenal effort, phenomenal teamwork. 🌍💪
Well done, everyone — and there’s plenty more adventure still to come!

✨ A Night of Excellence. A Night of Pride. A Night to Remember. ✨

On Wednesday evening we came together to celebrate the incredible achievements of our students at our annual Excellence Awards Evening.

From outstanding academic success in subjects, to year group recognition, to the countless contributions our students make to school life every single day, the evening showcased the very best of our school community. Every award winner was nominated by their teachers, making each achievement even more special.

Today we’re delighted to share a selection of photos featuring our most prestigious award recipients – our Core Values Award winners, Headteacher’s Award winners, and Endeavour Award winners. These students truly embody everything we stand for, demonstrating excellence, resilience, kindness and determination.

To every student who was recognised, and to every nominee, congratulations. You have made yourselves, your families and our entire school community incredibly proud. Your achievements inspire us all, and we can’t wait to see what you accomplish next.

This was a truly unforgettable evening of celebration, and we’re looking forward to sharing highlights from our Sixth Form Awards Evening very soon!

Our first update from the Rushcliffe Expedition to Kenya! 🇰🇪🌍

Our students have already made an incredible start, working on a community project to help build a new home in the village of Mama. They have also spent time visiting a local preschool, playing, learning and sharing experiences with the children there.

The team is camping right by the beach – and those views are simply breathtaking! 🌊☀️

This expedition is about so much more than travel. It’s about making memories that will last a lifetime, developing a deeper understanding of the world, and gaining perspectives that will shape our students for years to come.

A huge thank you to our amazing staff who have given up part of their summer holidays to make this life-changing experience possible, with special thanks to Mr Woodward for all of his hard work in organising the expedition.

We can’t wait to share more updates and beautiful photos with you over the coming days!

✨ School is officially out for summer! ✨
A final Esperanza update before we all switch off for a well‑earned break: our fundraising total for Education for the Children has reached an incredible £4,444.08 — a brand‑new school record! 🎉

Thank you so much for every generous donation and every raffle prize contributed. All raffle prizes have now been handed out to students to take home, and a huge congratulations to all our winners! 🏆

We won’t have school updates for a little while, but keep an eye out — we’ll soon be sharing stories and photos from the Rushcliffe expedition to Kenya. 🇰🇪✨

The students have been incredible today at Esperanza, we hope they had a great time. We have raised lots of money for charity and will be sharing the grand total and winners of the raffle tomorrow!

🧠🔬 Can psychology answer everyday questions?

Are pink high-vis jackets really the most visible? 🩷
Are teachers more affected by conformity than students? 🤔
Does sleep affect concentration? 😴📚

These were just some of the fascinating questions explored by our Year 12 Psychology students, who presented their own research this morning at our very own Psychology Research Symposium.

Staff and students were incredibly impressed by the high quality of the investigations, as well as the confidence and professionalism shown when presenting and explaining their findings. It was fantastic to see our students applying psychological research methods to real-world questions and communicating their conclusions so effectively.

A huge well done to everyone involved – we're proud of your curiosity, hard work and dedication. 👏✨
