It is with heavy hearts and overwhelming sadness that we announce the passing of Mr Marc Mole on 22 August, former Maths teacher at Nottingham Girls, and latterly Commercial Insights Manager for The Girls' Day School Trust. He had been ill for a few months and passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his partner Adam and his family.
Marc was one of the loveliest, kindest people; professionally and personally adored by everyone who knew him. He was so patient (essential for a teacher), funny, with a very cheeky sense of humour, and fiercely proud of the school and the GDST, for whom he worked tirelessly, even during the last few months of his illness.
Marc loved travelling and was a brilliant source of holiday inspiration for all his colleagues and friends. He and Adam travelled the world with their friends and brought back so many fantastic photos and recommendations. He was also a great source of knowledge about the food scene in Nottingham, always trying out the latest restaurants and keen to share his experiences. He loved keeping fit too, cycling everywhere, and swimming whenever he could. And he loved entertaining friends; anyone who had the pleasure of his company outside of school will have many fond memories of good food, good wine and even better company.
As well as caring deeply for his friends and family, he loved animals too (especially his three cats at home); and as this photo shows, when we found a runaway dog in the school grounds, Marc was very happy to dog sit while we tracked down the owner!
We know his family would love to hear your memories of him, so please do share them below. Details of the funeral and a fundraiser in his name will be shared in due course.
He will be missed beyond words.
