Our last day for despatching bait to you for the Xmas break is Wednesday 18th December, so please ensure any orders arrive before this date.
We are closed all over the Xmas period and will not be able to despatch anything between the above date and January 6th 2026.
We wish you a wonderful festive break and a very happy new year. If you are losing faith in your chosen bait now that the colder weather is setting in, just remember that our Magnum White (Rich Cream) and our Magnum Maple, both have a very long cold water track record. Both are digested very fast too, so the carp will need to feed again much sooner than after they have eaten a lot of baits fee them in the colder months. Used either on their own, or feeding them both together. They compliment each other really well.

"Hi Shaun,
Sorry these are a bit late, i was hoping to have a few more to report but a bad bout of Covid and then it's after affects, coupled with the up and down weather of recents weeks means i haven't been out for a while. Over it now though so just hoping for some settled weather, either long cool dry spells for chub and perch or prolonged wet and mild for barbel. This "up and down" weather is really not much good.
Anyway please find attached a couple of photo's from a few weeks a go. The first one is Steven Fullwood with a 12lb 10z Upper Trent barbel caught on the Rahja Spice when the river was carrying nearly 3m of water (it had burst it's banks in several areas on the stretch we were fishing). I had one of around 9 1/4lbs that evening also on the Rahja.
The second photo is of a double i caught off the Middle Severn when the river was carrying around 8ft of extra water. I also added fish of 9lb 7oz, 8 1/2bs and 4lbs in that 6 hour session.
I have added a couple more Rahja caught barbel from the Upper Trent since my last catch report with the biggest being a scraper double.
Wishing you all a merry xmas & a happy new year!

Cheers,
Pat Gillett"

We have just received this picture and message from Darren Topple...
"Just thought I’d share a photo of my P.B. upper Severn Barbel of 11lb 12oz caught using Questrami bait dipped Spam last week.
I’d chunked the meat and frozen it with a glug of the bait dip - old school method 😊
Thanks for your help,
Kind regards,
Darren"

Another species that likes the Rahja Spice.

I wasn't fishing for tench over the weekend, but I had to admire this absolute immaculate 8lb one that decided my Rahja bait was decent Tench food too. It was my third different species of the day. At least it wasn't stuffed full of spawn. It has always surprised me that many only target them when their weights are inflated whilst not at their fittest and full of spawn. This one was certainly fit and did its very best to convince me it would be much larger.

Throwback Thursday to 9 years ago today, when Shaun was doing a bit of barbel fishing and the sharp end of a boilie hoovering 14.11.

Shaun's latest Blog about how he gets his boilies working faster than they can straight out of the bag.

Another Drink Since before the turn of the century, I have written at length in many different magazines as well as a comprehensive book chapter, about my additions of liquids to boilies before I use them. This started off as a way of bringing air dried boilies back to life and then went on to various other thing...

Turn back Tuesday and a Rock Pool Rahja story. Someone just emailed to ask if barbel liked the Rock Pool Rahja. Most keep their pictures to themselves, but the answer is. Yes, barbel love it, but most keep their pictures to themselves as it is a 'trick up the sleeve' for quite a lot.

Eric Roberts who we had let try the Rock Pool Rahja on the barbel has been out for a second trip and this time landed himself a magnificent 16.06 which follows the 14.12 on his second ever cast with it. Well done Eric, we know it's a great bait but you still have to present it in the right place. Top angling mate and an incredible average size of over 15 1/2 lb!

Between work party duties and cooking food, Shaun Harrison Angler still managed to catch a couple of nice carp this weekend on his Rock Pool Rahja boilies that had been given a drink of 160 ml of liquid per bag and left to soak it in for a couple of days before use.

A nice report from long term quest Baits user Pat Gillett...
"Hi Shaun,
I thought I would send you a brief catch report from my last couple of months fishing on the Upper Trent.
I have had 12 short evening trips of approx 5/6 hours each. Surprisingly these have produced 8 barbel (and a few chub). I have fished a couple of different stretches and visited areas that I either hadn't fished before or had not fished for a number of years. Now 8 barbel in around 60 hours fishing doesn't seem anything special when compared to the catches on the middle or tidal Trent, but anyone who fishes the upper Trent regularly will know how what those results mean.
In those 12 trips I have only seen another couple of anglers (one of the things I love about the upper Trent). The majority of the barbel have fallen to the ever faithful Rahja Spice boilies and pleasingly all appear to have been different fish. The weights were as follows : 13lb 12oz, 12lb 6oz, 11lb 13oz, 11lb 3oz, 10lb3oz, 10lb 2oz, 9lb 8oz & 8lb 4oz.
Here's hoping for a few more during the rest of the season!
Cheers,
Pat Gillett
