Beeston Wildlife Group is one of the local groups of Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust.

Much of our attention is focused on the activities and events at Attenborough Nature Reserve. Talks are held every month from September to April at Trent Vale Infant School. Guided walks are held monthly on a Saturday, meeting at the Attenborough Nature Reserve.

We are seeing lots of sunshine this week, so a little garden maintenance was needed down at Attenborough Nature Centre.
Hope you are all managing to enjoy the sunshine and see some of the spring birds that have arrived on the reserve.

Our last talk of the current season on Monday 20th April 2026 is 'Botswana' with Nigel Slater

Botswana's enormous wildlife reserves allow animals to roam freely. With big game and exotic birds, this talk showcases a classic African safari. We also cross into Zimbabwe to experience the magnificent Victoria falls – 'the smoke that thunders'.

BWG have been busy this weekend leading two walks around Attenborough nature reserve all to the sound of the Chiffchaffs singing from the tops of the trees. Have you seen or heard them on your travels?

Our penultimate talk of the season is on Monday 16th March. It features Nigel Downes who will share his video footage, uncovering miracles of nature: butterflies emerging from chrysalises, eggs hatching and caterpillars pupating. Hours of patient study have been condensed to bring us this presentation. A truly revealing evening awaits us.

Spiders are absolutely amazing. They have silk as strong as steel, multiple eyes and some of them even fly! There is a lot to learn about these fascinating, yet misunderstood creatures. Don't worry, you will be safe tonight with Sara!

We welcome back Steve Lovell who will take us on a trip across the border, into our neighbouring county Lincolnshire, to see deer, seals, birds of prey, insects and amphibians. It boasts a surprising diversity of wildlife throughout the year.
