A group of staff, parents and friends who help to raise money for Carlton Digby Special School
Dear Parents and Carers,
We are writing to ask for your support with an important project that will make a significant difference to our pupils.
As you know, many of our pupils rely on the school minibuses to access off site learning, community activities, work experience, and residential visits etc. These opportunities are a vital part of our curriculum helping pupils to develop independence, confidence, social skills, and preparation for adulthood skills.
Our current school minibuses are becoming increasingly unreliable and difficult to maintain. We have been working hard over the last few years to raise funds to replace these with safe, reliable, and accessible vehicles. We have secured some donations but still have significant shortfalls and we are finding it challenging to identify further sponsors.
We are therefore asking if any parents, carers, or family members know of local businesses, companies, charities, or organisations that may be willing to donate towards this project or support us through sponsorship, fundraising, or grant opportunities. Any connection or recommendation, no matter how small, could make a real difference.
Please be assured that there is no expectation or pressure to donate personally. Simply sharing potential contacts or ideas would be incredibly helpful and greatly appreciated.
If you are able to support us in this way, please contact the school office
Thank you for your continued support.
Dear Parents and Carers,
School is open today; however, we are aware that some areas of Nottingham have been more affected by the snow than others. We understand that this may impact road conditions, public transport, and the decisions made by transport providers about whether they are able to run safely.
If it does not feel safe for you or your child to travel, please do not do so.
Any absence due to snow or travel disruption will be recorded as an authorised absence.
If your child will not be attending please send a dojo to their class teacher.
Everyone’s safety is our priority, and we appreciate your support and understanding.

Are you able to spare a donation for our rainbow raffle hampers?
We are looking for items in one of our class colours to add to our hampers. The hampers will then be raffled off to our school families at our school fayre on Monday 8th December
As our class sizes are small, we would welcome any support to fill our hampers from our wider community
Please send/bring any donations to our school office by Friday 5th December to give us time to make up our hampers. Collection could be arranged in some instances by contacting our Family Support Worker at: [email protected]
Thank you in advance ☺️

🌻New Project - Positive Playmates!🌻
We're very excited to be launching Positive Playmates, a new project developed and run by our Champion Ambassador, Lucie Gregory.
Positive Playmates is a befriender programme across the East Midlands to provide parents and carers with children living with disabilities a chance to have some more support in the home.
👣Anyone aged 13 and above can volunteer to play with and entertain a child (under 16) in their own home for an hour a week or more. One parent will always be in the home to provide any care necessary, the volunteer’s job is simply to play!
👣The volunteer will provide the child with company and entertainment and give the parent/carer an opportunity to have a break in another room, spend time with other siblings or do some boring but necessary chores!
👣The volunteer role would be a great opportunity for anyone who is taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award, someone who would like experience for a relevant course or a career, or someone who is retired and wants to do something amazing with their time. Anyone can apply!
🌻If you're a family with a child living with a disability or if you are interested in volunteering, please email Lucie at [email protected] 🌻
NB - Parents/carers will always be in the home, and this is not to provide care, but it will be a befriender role.
