Grasshopper class experimented with ways to move objects using minimal force. By creating levers, they were able to better understand how the ancient Egyptians moved the heavy stone blocks using levers with pivot points.

Another week and another Junior Parkrun for some of our children (including some ‘graduates’). We are a ‘Parkrun school’ as it aligns with so many of our school’s core values, including independence, wellbeing and collaboration. Each week, the whole school is involved in ‘The Swanton Six’, which is 6 circuits of the school field. Children choose to walk, jog or run this, or use a mixture of all three, while thinking about their own wellbeing and individual goals. Most importantly, the children go round with smiles on their faces.

Our SAPTFA took part in a wonderful event yesterday… The Swanton Abbott REVELS. They took the hook a duck, Lock Box, Water or Wine, Auction of Promises and the infamous Teddy Tombola. Thank you to all of those involved and those that came to support the event.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and supported our wonderful SAPTFA-run event.
Our Dragonflies class showed off their fantastic entrepreneurial skills through the ‘Grow £5’ challenge — and grow it they certainly did! 🌱💰
From book stalls and raffles to games galore, there was something for everyone to enjoy. Thanks to the incredible support of our school community, we raised a profit of over £600 (before the auction of promises)! 🙌
Thank you so much to everyone who donated, volunteered, organised, supported and joined in the fun — events like these truly show what makes our small school so special ❤️

It was wonderful to have Mr Hopkins join us in Bumblebee Class this morning to explore our new learning environment and take part in our morning activities. The children loved sharing their learning and showing him all the exciting opportunities available in our classroom. We are incredibly fortunate to have such caring and supportive leadership within our school community. 🐝

Dragonflies Class were challenged to make a model of blood today. Using cereal hoops, marshmallows and food colouring, they represented red blood cells, white blood cells and plasma. A great way of learning about the circulatory system.

Year 1 and 2 have been learning about the Jewish Passover Festival in their RE lessons. This afternoon we tried some of the parts of the Seder plate which is an important part of the celebratory meal. We tried dates, sultanas and apples for the sweet Charoset and very dark chocolate for the bitter taste of Maror. Finally we tried Matzah unleavened crackers and finished with blackcurrant juice.
