Helen Banks from the NSPCC came to visit Heather Avenue to teach the children about the NSPCC and the work they do to protect and preserve the lives of children; she introduced Buddy- the NSPCC character, the online hub full of interactive and informative games, Childline (and the number- 0800 1111) and the website to access for learning and advice.
The children were very interested in learning about how to keep themselves and their peers safe, actively learnt what to do if they needed to speak with a responsible and safe adult and then enjoyed making Buddy puppets.

We had a fabulous time at SaxonAir being designers and creating marble runs to simulate the process engineers have to go through when planning where to lay cables.
We also had a tour of SaxonAir and learnt what happens to prepare for a trip on a helicopter to go out to the oil rigs.
We learnt about flight and made our own paper aeroplanes.

Last week, Squirrels Class were delighted to welcome parents/carers into school for a science themed 'Stay and Play' session.
The main attraction of the afternoon was our recently hatched ducklings. We enjoyed singing ‘five little ducks’ and watching the ducklings swim. We shared our learning of the life cycle of ducks and how to care for them.
We also had activities based around planting seeds, animal habitats and the seasons.
The classroom was full of enthusiasm and excitement! Thank you to all the parents/carers who were able to join us.
