A huge thank you to our wonderful school community! Every penny raised will go towards supporting our children and enhancing their school experience.

🌿 Help Us Reuse, Recycle & Revive Our Wildlife Area! 🌿

Have any pre-loved clothes, toys or books looking for a new home? We'd love your donations!

Please bring them along on Friday 10th July for our Reuse & Recycle Stall.

Our fantastic Eco-Committee is raising money to help Mr Gildersleeve redesign the school's wildlife area this September, creating an even better space for nature and our children to enjoy.

🏆 Culture Change Award – Tender Awards 2026 🏆

What an unforgettable day for our tiny, wonderful schools! 💙

We are absolutely thrilled to share that Surlingham Primary School and Rockland St Mary Primary School were honoured with the Culture Change Award at the Tender Awards 2026—an award recognising our commitment to creating a culture of kindness, respect, healthy relationships and positive change.

To make the moment even more special, the award was presented by the incredible Olivia Colman, who gave the most heartfelt and inspiring speech about our schools and the difference that even the smallest schools can make. It was a moment we'll treasure forever.

We were very proud to be represented by Ella (Surlingham) and Amara (Rockland), whose outstanding leadership through our Kindness Crew has helped champion respect, inclusion and positive relationships across both schools. They truly embody everything this award stands for.

Sharing the day with inspirational figures including Ed Sinclair, Jodie Whittaker, Toby Jones, Kiell Smith-Bynoe, Priyanga Burford, Jo Johnson, Jess Phillips MP, Natalie Fleet MP, David Larby and Nina Goswami was an amazing experience—but our proudest moment was watching Ella and Amara stand amongst them, knowing they had earned their place.

This award belongs to every child, member of staff and family who helps make our schools communities where kindness matters, every voice is valued and everyone belongs.

The Tender Awards remind us that real change doesn't begin with famous faces—it begins in classrooms, playgrounds and school communities where children learn to lead with empathy, courage and compassion.

Ella and Amara, you represented us with confidence, warmth and pride. You are proof that young people have the power to change the world—and we couldn't be prouder of you both. 💙

⛷️ Kingfishers Hit the Slopes! ⛷️

On Monday, our Kingfishers had a fantastic time on the slopes and did an amazing job!

Year 6 built on the skills they learned last year, focusing on their turning techniques. Their instructor was incredibly impressed with how much they had remembered and how quickly they got back into the swing of things.

Year 5 raced through the basics and were soon taking on some more challenging skills, showing great confidence and determination.

A special congratulations to Jonah and James, who have now been signed off for the ski club and spent the afternoon enjoying some free skiing!

Most importantly, everyone had lots of fun and showed excellent enthusiasm throughout the session. Well done, Kingfishers! 🌟

Yesterday our Eco-Committee had a wonderful time out in the village with Mr Gildersleeve and members of the Parish Council helping to tidy up our local area as part of our Walk to School Week and community litter pick initiative. 🌍🧤♻️

The children worked incredibly hard collecting litter and taking pride in caring for the environment around them. It was fantastic to see everyone working together to help keep our village clean, safe and welcoming for all.

A huge thank you to the Parish Councillors for joining us and supporting the project, and to all of the families who have helped by collecting litter around the village throughout the week. The children have shown such enthusiasm and community spirit — we are very proud of them all!

🌍 LEARNING ABOUT DIFFERENT COUNTRIES IN OUR COMMUNITY 🌍

We have been delighted with the wonderful support we’ve received during our Culture Weeks! The children have loved meeting people who are from, or have lived in, countries other than England and learning all about different cultures, traditions and experiences.

This week, we have been learning all about Italy 🇮🇹 and were very lucky to welcome Dr Nobili, who did a brilliant job of sharing fascinating facts and stories about Italy with the children. Thank you so much for your time and support!

Next week is Armenia Week 🇦🇲 and we are very grateful to Viken and Ara’s mum, who has kindly offered to make some delicious Armenian food for us all to try. We can’t wait!

Thank you to all of our families for helping us celebrate and learn about the diversity within our school community. ❤️

Kingfisher Class have had an incredible time on their residential visit to Bawdsey Manor! 🌟

Throughout their stay, they’ve taken part in a wide range of exciting outdoor activities, including climbing, orienteering, campfires, and much more. 🧗‍♂️🔥🌲

We are so proud of how brave everyone has been—stepping out of their comfort zones, trying new challenges, and building wonderful new friendships along the way. What a fantastic experience for all involved! 💛
