About Me:
My name is Melissa Kerruish and I love teaching ...
IT’S NOT ABOUT ME, IT’S ABOUT YOU!
I have been teaching and lecturing for nearly 30 years.
I love teaching because I am passionate about helping students like you overcome obstacles which get in the way of you progressing and achieving your goals.
For several years I taught drama and I devised and directed many student drama productions.
Guiding students as they make the transition from ‘page to stage’ is an incredibly exciting process; from that first reading of a script (which they believe is completely over their head) to the first night when they don’t just perform a text, but they own it, is a fantastic feeling!
10 years ago I made the switch from drama to English teaching because I recognised that one of the many reasons I loved drama was my fascination with the craft of cleverly written language.
I have happily combined my two favourite subjects since that point.
TEACHING AND EXPLORING THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE IS MY PASSION ...
‘Page to Stage’ or ‘Pen to Page’ - helping and guiding students towards ways of expressing their thoughts, ideas and understanding, is what my work is all about.
My heart has always been in teaching because my work isn’t really about the mechanisms of the dramatic stage. Nor is it about the wonders and workings of the English language; it’s about you, the student.
MOST EMPLOYERS AND FURTHER EDUCATION PROVIDERS REQUIRE A GRADE 4 GCSE ENGLISH LANGUAGE
So ... if you are a student who needs a bit of extra support with ‘getting their thoughts down on the page,’ or you believe you ‘get it’ but you can’t quite express your understanding in a complete paragraph, or perhaps you feel you ‘just don’t get it at all’ …. then you are in the ‘write’ place! (Did you see what I did there?!)
Let’s work together and let me help you get to where you want to be with your English GCSE.

The government have confirmed that this year's GCSE and A Level qualifications will be based on teacher grades using a range of evidence. To ensure absolulte integrity and fairness of grading, students should be assured of a rigorous moderation process within their centres in addition to sampling by the exam boards.
Additional coursework produced within the remit of private tuition with me, will be signed off by way of a disclaimer to confirm that your work is your own.
