This was yesterday Bovey Tracey. What a great first day! Quite a few of these pieces have gone now. Thank you to everyone who bought or just made a lovely comment. Roll on day two
This has taken me an age to post! Last week I was asked to run a workshop for Knutsford floral design club at Plumley village hall. We made obelisks and dragonflies. I’m hoping by now their fingers have stopped hurting! We have had a bank holiday weekend between then and now. Hopefully their lovely creations will be installed in their gardens by now.
If you would like me to come and teach a group you are in just get in touch.
A bit of a departure from willow. In the morning, if I don’t sit outside, I sit and look at this tree in my garden. It’s a Tilia or Lime tree. It’s not everyone’s favourite. It’s very generous with what it drops through the year. This time of year it’s flower casings, or bracts get in my water tank even though I cover it. Then it will be aphid wee raining down which makes everything sticky and attracts black soot on some of my plants below. Then pollen covering everything in yellow dust and seeds scattering everywhere before finally copious amounts of leaves. Some people would have got rid of it, but I feel I have no right. It is home to squirrels and so many birds. It feeds the bees in June, so much it hums with their buzzing. I love when the leaves emerge again like this every spring and helps to ground me every morning when I gaze out the window with my cup of tea. Thank you beautiful tree.
I had the privilege last weekend of teaching a lovely lady from Canada, my first ever 1:1. Hopefully the first of many workshops at my home studio. made a beautiful hare and fox head. It was hard work, especially with jet lag! She has now gone to do a skills week with - lucky thing! Truely hooked on willow, it’s easily done.

I spent a rather lovely day in the sunshine yesterday at Portland Basin Museum in Ashton. I sometimes run workshops there, but this time I was installing some small animals - fox, goose, rabbit, chicken and cockerel, and repairing Joey. A horse I made 13 years ago!! His legs had gone all over the place from being moved around as he ventured as far as the Lowry for War Horse and over the years his head had sagged from all the patting! A few minor surgeries and he was back on his feet.
If you haven’t visited this museum it’s a must. All the history of industrial life in Aston and right on the canal. So beautiful and peaceful. It is run by
