I am now at 1223 followers and so happy and very thankful
I would like to say a big thankyou to all of my new followers and my very supportive long standing ones
I thought I would just send a little note to tell all of my new and older followers a little bit about me.

*** I LOVE SEWING AND TEACHING ALL WHO WANT TO LEARN TO SEW ***

I have been sewing on and off since I was first taught to sew by my Nan using her singer hand crank at the age if 5 I am now the proud owner of it.
My life like most people's took a change when the pandemic hit and I was made redundant.
It gave me time to think about what I really wanted to do and with the encouragement from my lovely family and friends I started teaching sewing. First it was hand sewing at my grandaughters school as an after school club. Then I was urged on to give sewing machine lessons for complete beginners which went really well and then progressed onto dressmaking lessons plus much more. So here I am and I am living the dream where my job is my hobby. My workshops are run from Scribble Studio Rushden and it's a great light filled studio just perfect for sewing. I also teach 121's in your own home.
So if you haven't already switched off or fallen asleep thankyou for reading. Here are my latest workshops.
The dates for the Introduction to a sewing machine for children are 26th 27th and 28th October.

I think you all know by now that I love teaching. My greatest love is teaching children to sew which I do at my Childrens After School Club on a Tuesday and the childrens workshops I run during the holidays and my private 121's.
The pyjama workshop was brilliant, hectic, this was due to the presure of time but still a great workshop. My adult workshops dont have the presure of time as they are over a much longer period so I thought to myself why not do the same for children so I have. I have been helped by the fact that two mums have approached me for their children to do a sewing workshop.
So if your child can use a sewing machine they dont have to have one I have them available and they would love to learn the first steps of dressmaking this workshop is for them.
Look at the poster below it has all the information you need.
I only need 4 children for the workshop to go ahead and they make what they want as long as it is beginner friendly. I can help and advise on this.
email me rather than pm on here if possible please to [email protected]

Yes I know it's still the summer holidays but I would like to know if you would like your child to learn a new life skill like sewing using a sewing machine.
I am now taking bookings for my Introduction to a sewing machine workshop for children.
If you are then please can you let me know which dates are good for you. They are Monday October 26th Tuesday October 27th and Wednesday Oct 28th.
So if your child can do just one or all of them just say that and I will hopefully have enough children to fill one of those dates.
More info on poster. Please email me to let me know [email protected]

Has the Great British Sewing Bee made you think hmm I think I would like to try that.
If so why not join my next workshop.
This workshop is not about you arriving with some fabric and going home with a very simple basic top or skirt after just a few hours.
This workshop is to teach you a new life skill one that you will love and give you great satisfaction.
You will make something unique to you because you choose the fabric to match your style.
The pattern for this workshop is for a pair of wide leg trousers by Tilly and The Buttons.
You will learn to read and understand your pattern.
Measure yourself correctly.
Trace your pattern to your size.
Then with guidance throughout the workshop I will teach you each step that is needed for you to make your first pair of trousers.
This workshop starts in just a few weeks on Saturday 5th September 4 hrs tuition 10am to 2pm for four weeks. It's for up to 5 places to ensure I make it as personal as I can.
Take a look at the ladies who have just finished my last dressmaking workshop. They had never done any dressmaking before. They just knew the basics of their machine. You can do this too.

Childrens introduction to dressmaking part 2. WOW what a morning did we all have. The Pyjamas slowly came together and yes my young ladies became best friends with the seam ripper. But it was a wonderful learning curve for us all. There were mistakes made and also lots of wonderful sewing too. We had four long bottoms and one pair of shorts. But the best thing was we had five proud girls happy to show off their pyjama bottoms wearing them with pride.
I have loved every minute. 😀

Well I am home now after my first children's dressmaking workshop. I am so happy because part 1 has gone so well.
Part 2 tomorrow.
They learnt so quickly that I was able to add the inseam pocket. I was not sure how much time they would need but they picked everything up so quickly and sewed away happily. Today was learning about the straight grain transferring of markings and cutting out correctly. It was then time to neaten the edges which they did with either a zig zag stitch or they used their overlocker foot if their machine had one.
Finally today ended with attaching the inseam pocket.
The full construction will happen tomorrow.
If we have time I am hoping they can make a small project with some of their left over fabric.

If you would like your child to learn to sew just message or email me and I can let you know about my upcoming lessons 😀
