I’ve been a bit quiet on social media lately, sorry! 🙈
That’s because Pinnacle Tutoring pupils have been BUSY!
I’ve been absolutely loving seeing the progress everyone is making. Every pupil is on their own journey, moving at their own pace — and that’s exactly how it should be.
Some are learning to write full sentences, some are smashing their times table facts, and others are developing new grammar skills to level up their writing.
Most importantly, I’m hoping they’re all having fun, growing in confidence, and discovering a real love of learning along the way 😊

Wishing all of my wonderful pupils and their families a very Merry Christmas. Thank you so much for all your hard work this year and for being part of the Pinnacle Tutoring family – I’m so proud of everything you’ve achieved so far.

A little update too: I’m now fully booked for evenings and weekends, but if your child is homeschooled, I do have a few daytime slots available during the week. If those times don’t work, you’re very welcome to add your child to the waiting list. Feel free to get in touch to chat.

Working on '1 more, 1 less' with my lovely pupil who, at just 4 years old, never ceases to amaze me!
I love listening to her talk while she is working things out. During this activity, she said that she could 'put the 1 more numicon next to the 7 so that we can see which piece fits on top' and found that it was the 8!

There are so many reasons why tuition is so beneficial and to name just a few, 1:1 tutoring allows children to:
* work at their own pace
* discuss their thinking
* have time to correct errors rather than rushing onto the next problem
* explore resources in front of them and find the ones that work for them
* have the focus of the teacher solely on them.

Using numicon to recognise and understand odd and even numbers with my EYFS pupil. She did a great job and told me that the odd numbers have an extra bit sticking out at the top. Well spotted!

Although we are only in September, I know that there will be year 6 children hearing 'SATs' being thrown around already and I want to let you know that with my years of Year 6 teaching experience, I’m here to guide, support, and help to build confidence every step of the way.

SATs don’t measure everything that makes a child brilliant. They don’t see creativity, kindness, humour, or the unique talents children bring to the world. However, they will roll around every year and I am available to help with content, test technique and to help your child be as prepared as possible.

I'm lucky that I've always had such a love of reading and enjoy being transported to multiple worlds through books. However, I know that there often comes a time when children decide that they just don't want to read and many parents find themselves despairing, knowing just how essential reading is for their child's development. Among many other things, reading boosts language skills and vocabulary, fosters imagination and creativity, and cultivates emotional intelligence.
My advice is to be a little creative yourself; there is always something they can read that will spark their interest and no, it doesn't have to be a story book.
What does your child enjoy?
Football? Find an autobiography of a past player from their favourite team.
Making cakes? Grab a recipe book and ask them to read through a few recipes to find their next creation.
Space? Borrow a Guiness Book of Records and see if they can find wierd and wonderful records set in space.
Knowing the text relates to their interest will be a convincing starting point for them and can lead to great discussions with parents, siblings and friends.
