Good morning language lovers! I am often asked the best way to develop listening skills in a target language. See my top 3 ideas below that are sure to help you along in Spanish and French!
Remember with these you have to be persistent and you may find yourself listening to the same item 3 or 4 times or more, and thats more than ok, but each time you will pick up a little something more!!!!!!

1) Tune in to a Spanish or French radio station or a TV channel

2) Youtube have some fantastic cartoons -don't be put of by the fact that they are cartoons linguistically they are as good as any other resource!

3) Find your favourite film, you know the one i mean, the one that you know the script and story back to front and then see if you can lay your hands on it and that on the back of the dvd case it lists your spoken language options, often they will be in Spanish or in French. By watching it when you are already really familiar with content will help create familiarity for new vocabulary in the target language.

I am a passionate and qualified language tutor and experienced examiner bringing up a bilingual child with 15 years of tutoring experience.

I have taught and teach children from primary school age up to GCSE and A level. I hold a BA Joint Hons in Spanish and American Studies and a Delf B2 in French in addition to a PGCE Cert/Ed.
