πŸ’š This is exactly the kind of accessibility that makes a real difference.

A huge well done to Beamish Museum for offering sensory bags to visitors who may need a little extra support during their visit.

It's thoughtful initiatives like this that can help make days out feel more accessible, more comfortable and more inclusive for neurodivergent people and their families.

We'd love to see more places offering simple adjustments like these. Every small step helps people feel welcome. 🌿

Thank you, Beamish Museum, for leading the way. πŸ’š

Did you know that we have sensory bags available to use during your visit? Guided by our Access Panel and designed to support visitors with sensory needs. The bags include; headphones, sensory book, lavender bag, football rattle, Beamish top trumps and Jacobs ladder.

The bags can be collected from our Entrance gift shop and requires a Β£10 refundable deposit.

πŸ’š A little thought from the Nest...

One thing I've been thinking about recently is how difficult it can be for autistic and ADHD teenagers and young adults to take that first step and come along to a new group or event.

As a mum to an 18-year-old autistic and ADHD son, I completely understand.

For many young people, home feels safe. Going somewhere new, meeting unfamiliar people and stepping outside of their comfort zone can feel overwhelming.

Sometimes it's simply easier to stay where everything feels predictable.

And that's okay.

At NeuroNest, there is never any pressure.

Whether you join us for a walk, come along to a Life Admin CafΓ©, spend time at one of our creative Gatherings, or simply follow along online for now, you're welcome exactly as you are.

One of my biggest hopes is that young adults like William will eventually meet others who simply get it. Friendships don't have to happen overnight, but knowing you're not the only one can make such a difference.

If you're a parent, please know you're not alone in navigating this.

And if you're a teenager or young adult reading this...

There's no expectation to be outgoing, chat to everyone or stay for hours.

Sometimes the bravest thing you can do is take that first small step.

We'll be here when you're ready. πŸ’šπŸͺΊ

Because life feels lighter when we don't have to do it alone.

πŸŒ™ The NeuroNest Wind Down

Before you close your eyes tonight, here's a gentle reminder...

Tomorrow isn't about keeping up. It isn't about walking the furthest. It isn't about doing everything perfectly.

It's simply about spending time together, at your own pace.

Whether you're joining us tomorrow or simply enjoying a quiet evening at home, I hope you find a little peace tonight.

πŸ’š What's one thing that made you smile today?

πŸŒ™ Rest well. See you tomorrow.

🌿 We're so excited to be part of this fantastic event!

NeuroNest North Yorkshire will be there, and we can't wait to meet so many wonderful people, families and organisations from across our local community.

If you're coming along, please come and say hello! πŸ’š We'd love to chat about NeuroNest, our community events, and everything we're building together.

Huge thanks to Julie for organising what looks set to be a brilliant day. See you in September! πŸͺΊβœ¨

🌿 Tomorrow we'll be exploring one of my favourite places... Newby Hall & Gardens.

I first visited here years ago and completely fell in love with the peaceful gardens, hidden corners and beautiful walks with plenty to keep children entertained too.

Tomorrow is our very first NeuroNest Explorers adventure, and I'd love to share this special place with others.

Whether you're coming on your own, with family, or simply looking for a gentle day outdoors, you'll be warmly welcomed.

πŸ’š Sometimes the best conversations happen while walking side by side.

If you've been thinking about joining us, there's still time.

πŸ’š Today is International Self-Care Day.

Self-care looks different for everyone.

It might be...

β˜• Taking time at the Life Admin CafΓ©.
πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ Going for a mindful Wanderers walk.
🌿 Spending time in nature with Explorers.
πŸ’¬ Getting creative at a NeuroNest Gathering.
πŸ’š Connecting with others instead of struggling alone.

Or it might simply be taking a few quiet minutes for yourself today.

However self-care looks for you, I hope you're able to show yourself a little kindnessβ€”not just today, but every day.

πŸ’š Founder Friday

When I first imagined NeuroNest, I didn't have all the answers. I just had one hope...

To create a place where people could feel welcome, understood and accepted, exactly as they are.

Every walk, every conversation, every coffee, every event and every person who joins this journey is another gentle step forward.

Thank you for believing in this little dream and for walking alongside me. πŸͺΊπŸŒΏ

πŸͺΊ We'll save you a place.

Not every space feels easy to walk into.

That's why NeuroNest North Yorkshire is built differently.

No pressure to socialise. No expectation to mask. No need to explain yourself.

Just a calm, welcoming space where you can connect, take things at your own pace, and know that you belong.

πŸ’š Together Thursday

I'd love to get to know this lovely community a little better.

Sometimes it's not about what we're doing... It's where we are that helps us breathe a little easier.

For me, some of my favourite places are: 🌳 Woodland walks β˜• A cosy cafΓ© πŸš† Watching trains go by πŸ“š Curled up with my Kindle

What about you?

Is it... 🌊 The beach? 🌲 A forest? β˜• Your favourite cafΓ©? 🏑 Home under a blanket? πŸ“– The library? πŸš‚ Somewhere unexpected?

There's no right or wrong answer.

Tell me in the comments...

Where's your happy place? πŸ’š
