Why are enrolment forms so important at Messy Makers? 📄
At Messy Makers we only ask for essential information about you and your child to be able to fully plan our messy play classes.
This includes identifying age ranges to ensure we have a range of accessible stations, focusing on any allergies or intolerances to remove those hazards, along with any additional information you want to provide. As an SEN parent myself, I know how to alter our messy play environment to ensure it's inclusive to all.
Lastly I clarify who has given photo consent and to what extent and make notes of this ready for our messy play classes.
Our enrolment forms can be found on our website: www.messymakers.uk ❤️

Why choose messy play for your child?
Messy play is more than just fun—it’s an important part of a child’s development. Here's just some of the reasons why it's worth embracing:
🎨 1. Boosts Creativity and Imagination
Messy play encourages children to explore materials in open-ended ways. Whether they’re finger painting, squishing slime, or building with mud, there's no right or wrong way—just creativity in action.
🧠 2. Supports Brain Development
Engaging multiple senses during messy play (touch, sight, smell) strengthens neural connections. This kind of sensory input is crucial for cognitive growth, especially in early childhood.
✋ 3. Enhances Fine Motor Skills
Scooping, pouring, pinching, squeezing—all these actions build strength and coordination in little hands, preparing them for writing and other fine motor tasks.
🗣️ 4. Encourages Language and Communication
As children describe textures, colours, or what they're creating, they expand their vocabulary and improve communication skills—especially when playing with others or with an adult.
😌 5. Builds Emotional Confidence
Messy play is often self-directed, giving children a sense of control. It’s also a healthy outlet for expressing feelings, managing frustration, and building resilience.
👭 6. Encourages Social Interaction
When done with peers, messy play promotes sharing, cooperation, and turn-taking. It’s a great setting for social skill development.
At Messy Makers each week we have a new and exciting theme with 5 different messy play stations to explore. Each station has been designed to support the development of fine (and sometimes gross) motor skills and naturally social and communication skills develop during child-led play. Our environments have a relaxed feeling, with no pressure on the children to play in a certain way, they are actively encouraged to move resources to different areas and explore what happens when items are mixed up! ❤️
