The losses we grieved over, the endings we mourned - every one of them had a silver lining.

Perhaps those were not our people

Perhaps they were the right people but it was not the right time

Endings always contain beginnings within them.

Look forward to the adventures with the right people, the right times.

They are coming.

How much time alone do you have?

When we struggle to find it, we crave it

When we have too much of it, we want less.

Just as we take rest, and we take action - complementary cycles that feed into one another - we need society, company, and time away from it.

Are you getting enough of both? Too much of one?

As women, we are socialised to please, to smooth the way, to put our own needs second, third - last.

We've been taught that what others think, want and need is more important than what we want. And this extends to feeling that our lives, bodies and choices need external approval.

They don't.

The truth is that what anyone else thinks of us is none of our business.

Our appearance, our body, skin, hair - no-one else's business

The ways we spend our time, working inside or outside the home or both, our hobbies, activities, passions - no-one else's business

The choices we make about children, caring, family - no-one else's business

It's hard to let go of the idea that we need that external approval. We've all spent years being told it's vital. But it is possible.

Through meditation, we can begin to set ourselves free from it - and fly without it.

Many people who learn to meditate come to realise that life really is for the living, today and every day.

We recognise, clearly and sharply, that life is finite, and so choose to spend time on what really matters to them - whether that's spending time in the sunshine, with family, on creative pursuits or some other particular pleasure.

We become more discerning. Things that once felt important disappear. If you wouldn't do them on your last day, why would you do them instead of the thing that really brings you joy when you have the chance?

How often do you find yourself wanting to run away from it all - it all being your own life?

So many of us find ourselves doing what we think other people want and need - and often, we can end up resenting that.

True courage isn’t found in escaping life. There is no perpetual stress free rest - that's not life at all.

True courage is found in being fully present for life, whatever it is. Through meditation, we become more ourselves - and this can help us change our lives to be more what we want. But as meditators we don't run away - we face life fully, calmly, and wide awake.

When we can enjoy our solitude, company becomes more about an addition to an already good life than a vital ingredient for it.

What is solitude like for you, at the moment?

What do you want to be real?

What do you want for yourself, for your life?

Can you imagine it? Specifically, in detail?

Not just a vague idea.

See it. Describe it. Then forget it.

Meditation allows our inner voices to bubble up from within and once we know what we want, really, truly want, it becomes almost impossible to follow a course that takes us anything other than towards it.

Try again.

What do you want to be real?

See it. Describe it....

Are you ready for this mission?

When we learn to meditate, we frequently find our self compassion grows - and this in turn allows us to be more compassionate to others.

When we are truly loving to ourselves, truly compassionate with ourselves, the half friends, half lovers and half lives wilt away. We find that they are not enough for us - we want better, more and we won't settle for less.

You don't have to know now what might change when you learn to meditate.

Knowing you want change is enough. If you feel like something's not right - that something is not enough - it might be time to make time for meditation. To make time for you.
