We had a special visitor in this week, our local postman Graeme, bringing a special delivery from Father Christmas all the way from the North Pole. The children enjoyed listening to Graeme tell them about his important job at this time of year and the children were very pleased to find the story of 'The Jolly Postman' inside their parcel to enjoy at group time.

My favourite week of the year, baking mince pies. The children never fail to amaze me at how well they make their pastry. The preschool has certainly been smelling delicious this week.

It was lovely to see so many parents and grandparents at our messy play sessions this week. The children thoroughly enjoyed exploring a variety of messy play activities with the adults such as cornflour, paint, spaghetti, glue, play dough and wet sand.
To name just a few benefits, experiencing messy play is so important to the children's development, providing opportunities for children to explore open ended activities in their own way, showing natural curiosities, fostering their imagination and supporting creativity. It is great for developing their coordination and control both fine and gross motor and is wonderful for learning about cause and effect.

Weekly wild activity - Making clay snails
The children did really well rolling out the clay to make the body for the snails, which was a little challenging as the clay is a lot firmer than the playdough that they are familiar with. We had some superb snails indeed!

On Friday we celebrated 'International Mud Day' a day early, so that we could enjoy some messy muddy fun! The children enjoyed exploring the feeling of mud between their toes, made muddy hand print and painting creations and added different coloured paint to the mud to make mud paint for tattoos.
To finish off the day we shared the story of 'The Amazing Mud Cake'.

For 30 days wild last week the children enjoyed playing in our beach role play area outside. We made butterfly wands, read wild stories in lots of silly places, did outside jungle yoga up in the school field and enjoyed ice pops whilst listening to one of our favourite stories 'Commotion in the Ocean'.
