TO OUR YEAR 6 STARS!

From the classrooms of High Cliff, where you’ve learned and you’ve grown,
To the SATs you’ll be taking — you won’t face them alone.
You’ve worked hard all year, step by steady step,
Building knowledge and courage with each promise you kept.

These tests are just moments, a few days, nothing more,
They don’t show your kindness or the dreams you aim for.
They can’t measure laughter, imagination, or art,
Or the courage you show and the size of your heart.

So walk in with confidence, hold your head high,
Let your effort shine brightly like stars in the sky.
Remember your teachers believe in you too —

Happy VE Day!

On 8 May 1945, the Allies formally accepted Germany’s unconditional surrender, ending World War II in Europe. It marked a massive day of celebration, street parties, and relief from years of wartime restrictions. Following the 80th anniversary in 2025, we continue to honor the veterans and generation who secured peace.

This short film explains what VE Day and VJ Day were, and the events that led to the end of the war.
