“The Newcastle University Chamber Choir is a vibrant ensemble of students from across the University, studying a wide range of subjects – not just music.
The choir is conducted by Laura Watson, a pharmacy student, and James Watson, a music student, who are also the Alto Choral Scholar and Organ Scholar at Newcastle Cathedral.

For this concert, The Spirit of the Lord, the choir presents a contemplative programme shaped by the reflective season of Lent. The music draws listeners into a space of stillness and prayer, exploring themes of penitence, trust, and quiet hope. The programme includes Edward Elgar’s The Spirit of the Lord, Gerald Finzi’s Magnificat, Stanford’s Three Latin Motets, and Richard Allain’s Canas Guest, alongside other works from the sacred choral tradition.

This concert offers a thoughtful and prayerful musical journey, inviting reflection and inward listening as we move through the Lenten season.”

We look forward to sharing this reflective evening of music with you. ✨

St George’s, Cullercoats is easy to get to, with great transport links and just a 2 minute walk from Cullercoats Metro station 🚇- connecting you quickly to Newcastle and the coast!
