AQA A-level Biology students! ⬇️
Don’t wait until after Paper 1 to start revising for Paper 2 - you can do both together!
✅ When revising Transport in Plants for Paper 1, also revise Photosynthesis for Paper 2!
✅ When revising Natural Selection for Paper 1, also revise Speciation for Paper 2!
Follow me, an experienced A-level teacher and examiner, if you want to ace A-level Biology!
I know it’s tempting…
You’ve got a lot going on and it’s hard to manage all the revision!
It seems like an easy option – just prepare for the next exam and forget about the rest until later.
❌ This is a really big mistake! ❌
🧠 Paper 1 is on 4th June.
💪 Paper 2 is on 12th June.
You cannot prepare properly for Paper 2 in just 8 days!
You must make sure you are revising for both Paper 1 and Paper 2 NOW!
Make sure you’re following and I’ll share a post tomorrow about how it can be done!
Are you ready for your Biology GCSE Paper 1 exam tomorrow?
Here are some essential reminders - parents if you’re reading this, make sure you share it!
1️⃣ Read the questions slowly and carefully. Make sure you underline the command word in the question, and write your answer in relation to the command word e.g. describe, explain, evaluate…
2️⃣ Bullet point your answers - no need for continuous prose, bullet pointing your answers encourages you to be clear and concise!
3️⃣ Key vocabulary is essential - before writing your answer consider the key terms the examiners might be expecting to see!
4️⃣ Do not leave questions blank - if you can’t answer a question, star it and leave it, but always come back to it when you have finished the paper! You can always write something!
5️⃣ Calculation questions - show all your working out and look out for those sneaky unit changes!
⭐ And finally, enjoy it! You’ve worked hard, so use this as an opportunity to show off your knowledge and understanding! Good luck! 🍀
I honestly can’t begin to explain how much I love Sir David Attenborough!
I grew up watching his amazing documentaries, sparking a curiosity in the natural world which has never left me.
When I taught in schools I would use clips of him in lessons at every opportunity (sometimes the link was extremely tenuous)!
Now, I watch his programmes with my own children, who also love him.
There will never be anyone who comes close!
🎉 Happy 100th birthday Sir David! 🎉
Here are three things you should be doing in the final week before AQA GCSE Biology Paper 1!
1️⃣ Using the specification – if you haven’t looked at your specification already, now is the time! Use it to check you have revised everything that could be assessed, and to familiarise yourself with the specific wording use to describe certain processes (e.g. the cell cycle, making monoclonal antibodies etc).
2️⃣ Focusing on active recall – quizzes, flashcards, blurting, explaining concepts to others – anything that encourages you to actually retrieve information from your memory, rather than passively reading notes or watching videos.
3️⃣ Completing past paper questions – a great way to test your knowledge and understanding of the content and work on those exam technique skills! Just make sure you mark any questions you do with the official mark scheme, and that you learn from any mistakes you make!

Five weeks until AQA A-level Biology Paper 1 – here’s five things you need to do to boost your grade!
1️⃣ Use your specification – so many AO1 questions in the papers are lifted directly from the spec so you need to know it!
2️⃣ Use flashcards – the very best way to test your knowledge! Hopefully you already have a set of flashcards on your weakest areas, but you should also make them after this…
3️⃣ Complete practice exam questions – you must do this to check both your knowledge and understanding – flashcards are great for knowledge, but you also need to be able to apply that knowledge to unfamiliar examples in exam questions.
5️⃣ Complete full past papers – so important to get an overall picture of your strengths and weaknesses, and to practise sitting full papers in timed conditions.
Make sure you mark them accurately and learn from your mistakes (get anything you didn’t answer correctly on a flashcard and keep testing yourself).
5️⃣ Focus on weaker areas – you don’t need to revise everything; you need to focus on what you don’t already know/understand! This is how you’re going to improve, rather than just stay where you are!
Let’s make these five weeks count!
