βοΈ Hand over hand prompting - lets talk about it! Is this in your child's support plan or EHCP? If so, you need to have a discussion with professionals.
Here at Little Leprechauns we do not advocate for hand over hand support for your little one. Our colleagues at Autism Level Up have explained this so well in the info below!
An aspect that has not been stated is the pressure behind the use of this can vary between people as well as the prompt dependence and consent issues discussed!
What do you think?
π£οΈ We've had some lovely feedback recently regarding our management of Mo's maternity leave and the how some clients have moved to Rachel for that duration (and beyond). We value all feedback as it helps us to constantly review our service and ensure that we are providing the best for our families and little leprechauns! π

π How's your weekend going? π
Rachel is away in Disneyland with her family! She spotted the leprechaun on the "It's a small world" ride π
Mo has had an afternoon in Newcastle with the husband to celebrate their 8th wedding anniversary π
π£οΈ Shout-out to a lovely testimonial received this week for Rachel:
"Rachel is very child focussed and has built a lovely relationship with my son during therapy sessions which is really important for me as a parent. Sessions feel like play rather than work which is a positive for my 2 year old!"
We love receiving all feedback and this helps to shape our practice.
πΆ The Leprechaun baby is officially 3 months old! At this point it is worthwhile to think about her communication at this point.
π’ Crying - her cries continue to show variance depending on what she needs.
βΊοΈ Smiles and giggles - we are now getting a range of cheeky little smiles to mum, dad and sister. We also get some cute little giggles depending on how much we work for them!
π Cooing - some early noises and coos have been observed. These are beginning to show some variance and she enjoys it when we copy these back to her.
π Eye contact and visual tracking - she is loving looking at mum, dad and sister. Sometimes, if she wakes and expects mum but is greeted by Dad, her response through her eyes tells a lot! She enjoys tracking her humans and motivating toys that present with high contrast colours!
β Grasping / reaching out - she is beginning to grasp toys more and try to take these to her mouth. She's showing an interest in these items and then attempting to reach out for these. This is the early foundation skills for when she will be reaching to her cup for juice or a bowl for more snacks!
π Mouthing items / hands - we've officially entered the stage of mouthing everything! Remember, at birth a human baby's mouth has the greatest sensory receptors within their body and it is through their mouth that they learn about shape, texture and taste at this point!
βΆοΈ We continue to expose her to a language rich environment with lots of singing and rhymes throughout the day including some Irish country music π
It's so interesting to look at a child's communication at different points of their development.
What does your child do to communicate that may not be through verbal means?? Comment below β¬οΈ
