A huge thanks to Mrs Rohrmann who has created this wonderful experience for the children. It has been much needed in the middle of this heatwave and the children have returned from the spa feeling refreshed and relaxed!

We’ve been keeping the heat away by dipping our toes into shimmering glitter and rose petal water 💦, nibbling on juicy fruit from our colourful platter 🍓🍍, sipping crisp cucumber water for a refreshing boost 🥒💧, and chilling out with soothing cooling eye masks 🧊.
Spa‑day magic at its finest.

Mrs Dawson was really impressed with the 'Water Safety' homework from her class. The children also had a safety session at Fenton Manor Swimming Baths which informed the children what they needed to do in an emergency if they ever fell into any water. The whole school also had a water safety assembly last week. A key message during this heatwave.

⛏️🌟 What an unforgettable adventure for 3L! 🌟⛏️

3L had an absolutely fantastic day at Apedale Mining Centre, bringing their History learning to life in the most exciting way possible!

The highlight of the trip was undoubtedly their journey deep underground into a real coal mine. The children were captivated as they stepped back in time to experience what life was like for miners working beneath the earth. They explored the challenging conditions miners faced every day, discovered the tools and equipment that were essential to the job, and learned about the incredible efforts made to improve safety in what was often a dangerous working environment.

Our budding historians asked thoughtful questions, listened brilliantly, and impressed everyone with their enthusiasm for learning about the rich mining heritage of our local area.

The adventure didn't stop there. The children enjoyed a wonderful walk through the surrounding landscape to see the impressive mining wheel, taking in the sights and imagining what the area would have looked like during the height of the mining industry. They also loved exploring the fascinating museum, where they uncovered even more stories, artefacts, and treasures from the past.

From descending into the depths of the mine to discovering the history that helped shape our community, every moment was filled with excitement, curiosity, and wonder. The children represented our school brilliantly and created memories that will last for years to come.

A huge thank you to the staff at Apedale Mining Centre for providing such an engaging and inspiring experience. 3L had an amazing day and returned full of stories, knowledge, and excitement to share!

In Year 4 we have been using artefacts in History to develop our understanding of primary sources. We especially enjoyed the tiles from the school building. This week we have also been very lucky to have several visitors to our school, talking about their various careers. In English the children have been very busy publishing their latest narrative.

📚✨ Published Authors in Year 3! ✨📚

We are incredibly proud to celebrate some of our talented Year 3 children who have become published authors!

As part of their homework, the children were challenged to write a poem about their hopes and dreams for the future. Their creativity, imagination, and thoughtful reflections were truly inspiring.

We are delighted that a selection of these wonderful poems have been chosen for publication in the book I Have a Dream. What an amazing achievement for our young writers to see their work in print and share their aspirations with a wider audience.

Congratulations to all of the children whose poems have been published. You should be extremely proud of yourselves! We look forward to seeing where your dreams and talents take you in the future. 🌟
