OVERHEAD CRANE OPERATOR/ YARD OPERATIVE

We are looking for a new team member to join our 26 acre manufacturing facility based in Chesterton, ST5 6BN. The suitable candidate will be operating an overhead crane to load and unload high quality precast panels as well as drive a forklift truck. The role is based outdoors and will require working at height.
Strong work ethic, using own initiative and willingness to learn new skills are required.

This is a permanent position, available immediately. 8:00 – 16:30 Mon to Fri. Regular overtime paid at 50% more is available. No weekend or Bank Holiday working. We shut down for Christmas.

(TRAINEE) CASTING OPERATIVE needed to join our team based in Chesterton, ST5 6BN.

Successful candidate will take part in the assembly process of bespoke concrete precast panels and architectural cladding. You will follow drawings and work with a variety of building materials to achieve a quality panel every time. You need to have attention to detail, enjoy hands on work and have practical skills.

Relevant experience in building and construction sector will be an advantage. However, training will be provided. We welcome applications from school leavers and candidates who are looking for a career change.

This is a permanent role. Working hours are 8:00 - 16:30 Mon to Fri with overtime available each day paid at 50% more. No weekend or Bank Holiday working. We shut down for Christmas. Immediate start available.

STEEL FIXER / TRAINEE STEEL FIXER

Thorp Precast based in Chesterton (ST5 6BN) are currently looking for candidates with previous experience or interest in steel fixing. Suitable applicant will be eager to take on training and have practical skills. The role will involve shaping, fitting and positioning steel bars or mesh structures to create reinforcement cages for concrete precast panels. Using nips to tie steel bars and mesh together will be essential to ensure stability.

You’ll work from technical drawings and often use machinery and tools, including cutting and bending equipment.

This is a permanent role, 8:00 - 16:30 working hours with regular overtime available to suit paid at 50% more. Immediate start available.

TRAINEE BATCHING PLANT OPERATOR

We are looking to appoint a site-based Trainee Batching Plant Operator. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking for a new career endeavour and has relevant transferrable skills; good mechanical aptitude, time management, able to multitask, high attention to detail, good communication skills, thinking on their feet with methodical approach.

The suitable candidate will be responsible for running a state of the art, indoor based, automated concrete batching plant and be an important part of many artistic projects. Full training will be provided, however any previous experience in mixing operations will be a distinct advantage.

ASSISTANT CONSTRUCTION SITE MANAGER

We are looking to appoint an Assistant Construction Site Manager to strengthen our site management team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who wants to learn key skills in and around the myriad disciplines in bespoke architectural cladding. The role also has excellent progression opportunities within Thorp Precast.

The suitable candidate will be responsible to the Senior Contracts Manager for the management support of site related matters. The site office is a very busy environment, you will receive a large amount of on the job training and formal qualifications.

Successful applicant will have a minimum of 1-2 years' experience and an ambition to progress in this field. Some façade exposure will be a distinct advantage.

The role will require the motivation and determination to become part of a team achieving the company goals and provides our customers with an on-going level of service that they have come to expect from Thorp Precast.

JUNIOR DESIGN TECHNICIAN

We are looking to strengthen our design team located in Penryn and therefore seeking a Junior Design Technician. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking for their first opportunity to join an engineering team that designs and implements various large structural projects.

It is a stable and varied position with an opportunity to gain or enhance skills within the building/construction industry. The successful candidate will receive full training in the use of the Tekla modelling software.

The suitable candidate would have completed a relevant qualification or is keen to undertake an apprenticeship with a desire to move into a construction/building industry. They will also have very good maths skills and genuine interest and drive to do design modelling. Any previous experience in using modelling software (i.e. SketchUp, Auto CAD or other) would be a distinct advantage.

The key responsibilities will include; collecting and interpret data, researching ideas, run basic functions and equations, create basic models, check and review reports. The successful applicant will play an important part in assisting engineers in many steps of the design process, including client liaison and participation in meetings.

POINTING & CONCRETE FINISHING OPERATIVES

We are currently looking to expand our finishing team based in Chesterton, ST5 6BN. This is a permanent role which involves, cleaning the panels, pointing, grouting, finishing architectural concrete panels and conducting any repair work that may be necessary. You will ensure that a quality finish is achieved every time so an eye for detail is crucial. Training will be provided but relevant skills are beneficial. Working hours are 8:00 - 16:30 Mon to Fri.
