🌟 Student Spotlight: Poppy 🌟

“I never thought I’d have the confidence or skills to compete in a singing contest but I thought I’d push myself out of my comfort zone and give it a go with some encouragement from my friend, who was also competing, and Hannah.

Hannah helped me choose songs that worked well with my voice and could let me show off all the skills I’ve been taught as well as some new ones that I learnt alongside those choices.

On the day of the contest I was so nervous because I’d never done anything like this before and I’d been poorly so had to go on vocal rest and couldn’t practice outside of my lessons as much as I’d have liked in the days before the contest.

I gave my performance everything and the adjudicator gave me some really good feedback and advice. I competed in Pop and Musical theatre, getting good scores in both and even placing 3rd in Musical theatre! I couldn’t believe it.

It was an amazing day of music and friendship and I couldn’t have done it without the amazing support from my friend and Hannah!”

🎵✨ Hey everyone, it’s time to share a little bit about me and my musical journey! 🌟

From the moment I could talk, I’ve been singing my heart out. 🎤 Growing up in a household filled with music, thanks to my musician parents, I was surrounded by melodies and harmonies from day one.🎶

My passion for singing bloomed as I got older, and I dove headfirst into amateur theatre (shout out to ), snagging lead roles and performing on stage whenever I could. 🎭🎓

After honing my skills at The Academy For Theatre Arts, where I discovered the true power of my voice, I continued my journey at South Staffordshire College, eager to expand my musical horizons.💫

Fast forward to today, and I’m living my dream as the lead singer in a duo called , where I not only lend my voice but also co-write the music that fills our hearts and souls.🎤

But that’s not all! For the past year and a half, I’ve been sharing my love for singing with others as a teacher. There’s nothing quite like spreading the joy of music and making it accessible to all who want to discover and explore their voice 🌈

I would 110% recommend Spectrum Singing to anyone! As someone who cannot sing well, I still love singing as it makes me feel very happy. I am also pleasantly surprised that I have improved too with my singing and general confidence. Hannah makes me feel so comfortable in anything we do and practice. She makes me feel very welcome and all of the lessons are my lessons where we do what I want, as opposed to a strict class (although Hannah would make it more rigid if I asked her to as she is honestly so accommodating). As someone who has a few neurodiversities, Hannah accommodates all of my needs in the friendly and welcoming space she makes. She also sometimes feels like my counsellor too, I think of our lessons as singing therapy!

🌟 Student Spotlight: Roxie 🌟

It’s been an incredible journey watching Roxie’s musical talent flourish and her confidence soar week after week! Working together has truly been a pleasure.

We started our sessions slowly, ensuring Roxie felt comfortable in the new environment and building trust. My approach has always been centered around Roxie’s comfort and preferences – I never pushed her to do anything she wasn’t ready for.

Initially drawn to singing, Roxie surprised us by expressing interest in playing the piano. With my flexible teaching style, we seamlessly integrated piano lessons into her sessions. We focused on learning pieces Roxie loves, incorporating singing along the way.

This adaptable approach has proven to be a success! Roxie’s concentration has grown immensely, allowing us to spend more time at the piano each lesson, adding in more singing with each session.

I’m incredibly proud of Roxie’s progress, and I’m thrilled to spotlight her success today! Keep shining, Roxie! 🎶✨
