Hedgehog Class has been fully immersed in the Titanic project. The children have been planning and writing diary entries from the perspective of a passenger aboard the ship. They chose their “character” and had to ensure that the information they included was historically accurate. In reading, the children have been exploring the features of diaries. We hope you enjoy these extracts from our work. In addition to writing diary entries Hedgehog class have been studying the route of the Titanic. Did you know that the Titanic made two additional “pick up” points before crossing the Atlantic? The children are relishing the new facts that they are acquiring.

Deer class have been very busy in their Design and Technology lessons. The children have been turning their dragon designs into reality by painting their clay models, they thought about how to mix the primary colours to make the colours they needed to make their dragons appealing. In mathematics the children have been learning about multiplication and how this means “lots of” or “groups of”. They have used lots of different mathematical equipment to help them check their work. Well done Deer class.

An exciting message arrived from Pirate Pete in Butterfly Class this week! The children have a variety of tasks to complete to gain their pirate licence. One of these tasks was to practise their letter formation so they can write like a pirate. The children also had to learn about 3D shapes in order to build a pirate ship. In art, the children were able to use a variety of materials to create their own islands. Butterfly class are great pirates in training so far!

Badger Class were incredibly lucky to experience the Life Bus that visited school last week. The children learnt all about keeping themselves healthy and the different food groups. In mathematics, they have been learning about capacity, Badger Class became Potion Masters creating potions of different volumes. In Science, the children learnt all about animals and the different groups they belong to - they all had lots of fun sorting the animals they knew!
