Line dancing is becoming more and more popular! People of all ages are getting involved, with social media fuelling the craze. 5 News' Peter Lane's been putting one foot in front of the other - to find out more.

DJ and the instructor Hayley Wheatley, will be featuring on Channel 5 News this evening highlighting line dancing, the enjoyment we get from it and helping to promote and share our love of line dancing to a wider audience.

What a fun night we had last night revisiting some of the classic line dances!

Islands in the stream was choreographed by Karen Jones who lives in Crawley. Whilst the music dates back to 1983, the dance was created in 1999. Karen wrote the dance in just 45 minutes for a chicken and chips line dancing night she had arranged at St Paul's church hall, Northgate.

She wanted a relatively slow dance which would not give participants indigestion after their supper.

26 years later and it’s still one of the most well known and loved line dances. So glad we are revisiting this one for those that missed it the first time round.

Here is a video of it to help you practice at home! The steps feel a little trickier to start but when it clicks, it clicks!
