Lunchtime Tech Tip — Don’t pay for broadband speed you don’t need
Switching or upgrading your broadband? Bigger numbers aren’t always better.
If you live alone and mainly browse, email, shop online and watch TV, you probably don’t need the fastest package available.
A busy family home with gaming, streaming and lots of devices connected at once will need more.
Not sure what speed you actually need? Get in touch with The Digital Neighbour for free advice before you switch.

Lunchtime Tech Tip — Phone stopped ringing?
Before thinking something’s broken, check Do Not Disturb hasn’t been switched on by accident.
On most phones, swipe down from the top of the screen and look for Do Not Disturb or a small moon symbol.
If it’s on, tap it to turn it off.
A very simple fix — but an easy one to miss when calls suddenly stop coming through.

Lunchtime Tech Tip — Take a photo of where you parked
Going somewhere busy this summer? Airport, theme park, festival or a day out?
Before you walk away from the car, take a quick photo of the row number, sign or landmark nearby.
Sounds simple, but after a long day, one photo can save 20 minutes wandering around a massive car park wondering where you left it.
Even better — drop a pin on Google Maps before you walk off.

☀️ Lunchtime tech tip — save your holiday map offline
Heading off somewhere this summer? It’s worth downloading the area in Google Maps before you go.
That way you can still find your hotel, restaurants and get directions even if you lose signal or don’t have mobile data.
Just open Google Maps, tap your profile picture, go to Offline maps, choose “Select your own map” and download the area you need.

Does your phone battery seem to disappear by the afternoon?
Check Settings → Battery and look at which apps are using the most power. You might spot an app running constantly in the background that you barely use.
A quick check can make a surprising difference. 🔋
