For those of you unaware of shadow work, it is simply acknowledging those parts of ourselves that we reject. The parts of our personality which we choose to overlook because we don’t want to see them… and why do we do it? Well more often than not, it reverts back to our childhood during those moments where we were scolded for being outspoken or for sharing our views. This then resonating in our adult life, making us feel unsafe for speaking our mind. We want to be loved and to love right, so it’s completely natural for our mind to go into protective mode and remove that trait from our personality in fear of rejection from those we love most 🫂

If we take this example of our “speaking truth” shadow, every-time we witness someone outspoken, we may feel triggered and automatically resent them because we’ve been programmed to believe that ‘speaking up’ is wrong. So, how do we tap into our shadow to heal those parts we’ve deeply buried in our subconscious? 🌱

Here are some exercises/prompts for getting started:

🗣 Think about someone who triggers you - Believe it or not, the shadow tends to show up in what we find triggering or difficult in other people and sometimes these are a reflection of what we also dislike about ourselves. Start answering gentle questions such as: What is it about this person I find triggering? Do I share some of those same traits? What part of me does that person enliven when I am around them?

🗣 Confront your shadow - Meditating is also a useful exercise. Once you’ve got a somewhat clear view of the aspects of your shadow self, you can start to release through positive affirmations E.g. I realise fear, I release shame, I release insecurity.

Shadow work can be really tough (I am making a conscious effort to practice facing mine often) because when we can bring our shadow to the surface, heal and then integrate those lessons into our lives, we evolve. “There is no coming to consciousness without pain” 🤍🫂🌱

Do you want to spice up your life? Let’s get that repetition and routine going. Now, I will be completely honest and transparent with you guys, creating a solid spiritual routine is not an easy habit to put into place, and is even more difficult to keep going. However, I am adding it into my spiritual gym workout and am determined to give it a go because I know (from previous experiences) that it truly is life changing.

Also, if you haven’t read Robin Sharma’s ‘The 5am club’, get to read it. Even if you do not adopt the 5am wake-up, the 20:20:20 routine is impactful enough in itself… Speaking of Robin Sharma, one of his quotes pretty much sums up this post “The way you start your day determines how well you live your day”. If you want to bring more productivity, joy, and contentment to your life, then turn to your morning routines (Disclaimer: There is no wrong or right routine. It is personal to every individual, whether that’s waking up at the crack of dawn to exercise OR slowly awakening at 9am to start your yoga routine).

You may ask me ‘How do I create a morning ritual when I am NOT a morning person?’ – Well, I can confirm that I got myself into the habit of hating my mornings and getting out of bed. It was just so God damn comfy. However, you will soon realise the benefit of adopting a spiritual routine to get you making your coffee and brushing your teeth on time. Don’t start your day for everyone else. Do you ever find yourself rushing to get out of the door for work? Stuck in traffic? Sitting at your desk for 9 hours? All of which Is completed before you even consider doing anything for yourself … which means your contentment cup is left parched. Resolution: Repetition and Routine.

It's also the first of Feb, which (as cliché as it sounds) is a perfect opportunity to put this into practice and MAKE yourself wake up, so that you can fill your cup before you do anything else. Here are my simple steps:

1. Prepare for the morning the night before 🧠

2. If you drink coffee, get that good stuff ready on a timer ☕️

3. Set your alarm for the same time everyday ⏰

4. Stop opening social media first thing 📲

Stop feeling guilty for resting. Yes, I am talking to YOU 🛁

In today’s world, there is this underlying expectation to go, go, go with rest being seen as almost a luxury… I have been there. I have felt nothing but guilt on those days I chose to rest. This concept of slowing down felt foreign to me and out of reach, however, I am now here to tell you that it’s okay to take time for yourself, it’s okay to not have a diary filled with appointments, it’s okay to have nothing planned and it’s okay to just be💆🏻‍♀️

Even those with the busiest of schedules have no excuse. If you don’t rest, there’s a chance you will just burn yourself out which can impact your overall health🧏🏻‍♀️

It is no misconception that our mind and body are intrinsically connected, so we need to look after both. From a biological perspective (because not everyday spiritual, sometimes I need to hit you with the facts), when we as humans are overworked, cortisol and adrenalin start to pump through our blood, which can lead to adrenal exhaustion and hormonal imbalances in the long-term. Have you been feeling low, gained weight, been dominated by oestrogen, experienced chronic fatigue? Girl, you need to REST and let those beautiful cells of yours recharge. It doesn’t have to be difficult either.

Go for a walk, incorporate a daily meditation practice, book yourself a massage, use essential oils in the bath, go for coffee with a friend and most importantly (which is something I used to find really difficult because I didn’t want to let people down) say NO to social arrangements when you feel overwhelmed. Look after YOU. Our bodies are super smart and so if we wake up and decide that todays the day, we need to give our bodies a rest, does that equate to Laziness? No, sister! It is far more productive, and I am given you permission to LISTEN to your bodies calling.

Happy Monday beautiful people - I am sure many of you have completed your Sunday reset and for those waking up to social media feeling like they aren’t good enough or have snoozed their alarms 100 times when they said they’d wake up early … well, this posts for you 🤍

How do you get over that feeling of not feeling good enough? Of feeling like a failure? First things first, everyone’s idea of failure is different. What might seem trivial or insignificant to one person, might feel like a major disaster to another. It’s important to first understand that this feeling of failure isn’t always caused by the reality of the failure itself, no sister 🚫It can be caused by the personal perception of that failure and what that means to a person.

Can we also talk about modern societal expectations? It’s no secret that we as humans naturally WANT to create a better life for ourselves and achieve new goals; whether that’s learning a new language or writing a book. All of which, requires persistence to achieve right? Historically, it took a whole lot of energy to stay alive from hunting for food, to working from sunrise to sunset and how the modern day has changed all of that. As long as you have some savings in the bank or your family/friends around you to support you, you can live your life and accomplish zero for months quite happily. This is why it’s so easy to trick our brains into releasing that feel-good dopamine when we get social media likes or win at fifa or binge a tv show. That’s psychology and simply put because I know it’s not even 9am, we essentially trick our brains into believing we are living a rewarding life, without actually living it 🏆

So how do you overcome this feeling of failure in the modern era? Well, here’s a few starting points:

🤍 Take Responsibility and own the f**k up - You certainly don’t choose to feel like a failure, so choose to take responsibility for overcoming those negative feelings of self worth. YOU are responsible for everything that happens in your life, whether that be happiness; unhappiness; your successes and your failures. Stamp out that victim mentality once and for all and take personal responsibility for your life ✌🏼

Session 1 - Gratitude List 🤍

Simple acts of gratitude really do have a significant impact on YOUR health and happiness, so let’s jump in and grab our notebooks, diaries, journals… whatever tickles your fancy 📝

Here are some prompts to get you started:

♡ List five ways (they don’t have to be big) that you can share gratitude today. Be present. Be mindful.

♡ Who are you grateful for? Write about that special person in your life and explain why.

♡ Are you experiencing any challenges in your life right now? Let’s switch it on its head and write about why we are thankful/grateful for it e.g. is it teaching you something new?

♡ Think about YOU a year ago. How have you changed? What positive differences have you made? What are you proud of?

♡ Our bodies are truly our temples. I definitely need to be more grateful for mine. Grab your pen and write down 3 body parts you are grateful for and why. Mines my skin because it’s been so resilient to my pain and healed itself when I was struggling to find the strength.

♡ Let’s finish with an interesting one. Dig deep. List 3 people in your life who are hard to get along with and write down at least one quality for each that you are grateful for. There is always one✌🏼

Let’s be real, just like you’re told not to work the same muscle every gym session, don’t feel pressure to practice these exercises every day because sometimes the mind needs a break. Like any new hobby/practice, it can be difficult and sometimes bring up emotional feelings. You should have seen me last week when I did actually go on a 3k run (shock I know) and came back from it in tears. Lean into any discomfort you experience and trust that there will be peace and contentment lying on the other side. I promise. Have fun with it and remember it’s unique to YOU!

I’m doing gym girl sh*t 🏋🏼‍♀️

Okay, being 100% honest I’m not talking 5k runs and 50 press-up gym girl sh*t… nope 😂 I have signed myself up to the spiritual gym, a perfect setup for soul searching and uplifting my spirit! This girl over here needs it to because since Christmas I’ve been lazy asf and need to get my ar*e into gear. So I’m bringing you along with me… here is my simple workout routine for my spiritual gym. Some days I might only do one, others I might channel by inner beast and do them all… who knows?

1. Studying - I love a good old self-help book. You know, the ones which help unearth all of those limiting thoughts and beliefs. So, I’m going to exercise the sh*t out of my mind and study study study. Even if that resembles me doing mirror work and telling myself how god damn amazing I am… and YOU are too!

2. Meditation - This exercise is such a simple way of cultivating mindfulness and so best believe, she’s getting added to my spiritual gym routine. I’m hoping to post some on here for you all to benefit from or even go live so we can do it together.

3. Paper and pen exercises - I’m talking journaling, gratitude lists which leave you so bloody happy with this miracle called life, writing manifestos or maybe if I’m feeling super creative, making a vision board.

4. Affirmations. Affirmations. Affirmations. I’m going to make a conscious effort to say my affirmations out loud over and over again until they become my reality.

These are only a few exercises to get me started, but I’m hoping you guys will join me and by the end we will be left feeling like we could bench-press a gorilla 🤪🏋🏼‍♀️😂 no excuse. No exceptions. We are about to become Strong 👏🏻 Also one more tip for those joining me, keep your spiritual workout short at first so you don’t feel overwhelmed - remember this isn’t a race 🤍

Can you really be in charge of your own life?✌🏼🤍

Yes. Yes. Yes. Many people experience life without knowing what they want to do or what they even stand for. It is not a case of them not having any dreams, however, more a case of them not stopping to really think about them🛌💭

Do you want to have lived your life without fulfilling your dreams? OR Do you want to be someone who honours their dreams and will look back at their life, knowing that they embraced the things which brought them happiness, meaning and joy?🏝🗺🤍

The exciting thing is that you have already started designing your own life. As humans, we subconsciously make decisions and choices, without even giving much thought. However, the problem with this is that these choices may lead us in any direction - not the ones we had necessarily hoped for!
What if i taught you how to make calculated, well thought out decisions with an end goal in mind? 😆

Every Sunday before bed, I reiterate the same self-talk; that ‘this week I will be on top of everything. I will wake up at 5am, read my book, journal, meditate, eat healthily etc. I will be THAT girl.’ Then Monday hits and I get into bed feeling like a failure.

I am sure you have all by now seen that TikTok going around with girls creating mini vlogs of their day showing this idealistic lifestyle, which don’t get me wrong is admirable and a little teeny tiny bit of me holds some envy, however, it’s important we use these to inspire us and not pressure us into being this stereotype.

If you read the urban dictionaries definition of ‘that’ girl’ (swipe across), it’s no reason why so many of us struggle so much and feel exhausted. Ignore the ‘most likely rich’ statement, not sure what that has to do with anything IMO.

I wish I was ‘that’ girl who followed a rigorous routine, however, sometimes I am ‘this’ girl who struggles to find the motivation to even wash my face, let alone follow my 6-step skincare routine.

Another thing I can’t stress is ‘Journal to your hearts content’ – The beauty of journaling is that you can write in it whenever you want, whether its one line or pages and pages. Just grab yourself a cute notebook and let your mind take you away.

Exercise is another thing I beat myself up for. Seeing ‘that’ girl get up at 5am and complete a 5k run (which again I really admire) was just not me. I soon realised that I really enjoyed walking and made habits to go on a daily walk.

So, who am I?

I have realised that I don’t want or need to be THAT girl, sometimes I am her, but sometimes I am THIS girl. There’s so many different versions of ‘that’ girl, why do I have to choose just one? I want to be the girl who makes the most of every day without putting pressure on myself. I want to just be 🤍

2pm strikes again and I’ve hit another afternoon slump, along with the “why do I feel so tired all the time?” And the “it’s exhausting feeling exhausted” self-pity. Sound like you? You’re not alone. Coronavirus Quarantine fatigue is a thing and it’s something I’ve been researching more and more into because your girl over here is TIRED. No more reliance on temporary energy boosts like your daily coffee or those energy drinks in the fridge. Nope. I’m going going to teach you some healthier, more natural ways of regenerating your energy… and I’m going to take you along with me on that journey, because it’s not instant right?

Step 1 - Grab the dustpan and brush and clean up your nutrition. Our bodies are our temples, just like a car needs fuel to work, your body needs good, quality food. If you feel as though your food consumption could do with a little bit of TLC, start planning your food in advance. This helps you become more mindful of what you are putting in your body. Tips such as consuming more complex carbs and avoiding simple carbs, increasing your intake of dark leafy veg, reducing caffeine intake and drinking more H20. I made myself a ginger and lemon shot to take every morning which burns the chest like a mother f**ked but it definitely wakes me up. DM me for the recipe.

2. Work/Life balance. We all hear it right? Modern women wear several hats, we are the business women, the mothers, the caregivers, the spouse etc. How often do you pick up your self-care hat though? Try creating and maintaining a morning routine, so that before you give away your time and energy, you give it to yourself first. If you’re working from home still (like me) make sure you set off a cut off time for work because your home should feel like a sanctuary, don’t let isolation and wfh ruin it.

3. Not today monkey. Have you ever heard of monkey mind? It basically is a term used to reference the feeling of being restless, unsettled or confused. Each time you get distracted, you lose out on that valuable time and energy. I’ve started caging my monkey mind with meditation because it can sometimes feel like you are drowning in your thoughts and meditation helps to pull you out of that and focus.

Waking up with a fully charged battery will support you when you feel that dreaded fatigue creeping in. But this only happens when you commit to making self-care a daily habit. No excuses.

You might not notice a difference in your energy levels at first and that’s okay. However, if you maintain a self-care routine, you will notice higher energy levels over time… I promise. I’m on this journey too, so why not DM me and we can help each other 🤍

You know what’s crazy, society seems to think we can only be happy when we get something we want. But have you ever heard of synthetic happiness? You know, the idea that we can chose our own happiness, like those moments we don’t get something we want but we are still happy and grateful regardless?

Hard cold truth, but only YOU are in charge. You either chose to create your happiness or you don’t. Start honing habits which maintain your happiness day in day out, no matter how small they may seem. I won’t sugar coat it, adopting a new habit is difficult, but surely it’s far easier to break those habits which make you unhappy than to let them destroy your happiness.

So, you may ask, how do I choose my happiness? Here are a few tips to get you started, you may find that you chop and change what makes you happy as you travel along your journey, but these 3 tips should be applicable throughout:

1. Gratitude - it’s so easy to get caught up in what you don’t have, especially with the likes of social media constantly forcing it in our face. I truly encourage you to start appreciating what you DO have in your life and trust me, they will start to bring you much more happiness than ever before. If you DO NOT show gratitude for what you already have, then you will struggle to appreciate anything. FACTS.

2. Be mindful of who you choose to surround yourself with - Surely you want to spend time with people who inspire, motivate and love you for YOU. I’ve lost and made friends over the years and I now truly believe I am starting to create wholesome friendships where we support one another and maximise each others happiness. I began to choose people I was proud of knowing, as well as people I looked up to and my god, how it’s changed my life. You don’t have to have loads of friends either, choose people that choose you.

3. Smile - I am still working on this one. For those of you that know me, I’m sure you’ve seen my serious case of RBF more than once 😂 But it’s honestly crazy how much of an impact something as simple as smiling can have on us. Choose to smile even on those days you really don’t want to. This simple act signals to your brain that there is a cause to be happy and content, even if you don’t believe it at first. I’m return, your body will be filled with feel-good hormones, which we all want a bit of right?

Morning beautiful people, I hope you all had an amazing Christmas 🤍🎄

As we are coming to the end of 2021 - ready to kick-arse another new year - a lot of us will be getting ready to make our New Years resolutions. But, do we actually ever follow them? How many times have you written your list to then abandon it a couple of months into the new year? Yes, I’m talking to YOU!

Do you know what the problem is? A lot of the time we write them without any grounding or focus, since shifting my mindset and writing my goals based on the previous years learnings I have achieved so much more. Before we let 2021 come to a close, I want you to spend some time reflecting on both your personal and professional growth, to help you understand what is of true importance to you.
