To my dear mother in law, thank you for not only being a mother in law but also a mother to me - for offering your teaching and guidance whenever I need it Hasumati Patel

❤️

To dear Sheela Didi for igniting that first spark of love for Bharatanatyam in me and for seeing something in me even in such a short time and for encouraging my parents to pursue possibilities for Dia and I to learn Bharatanatyam

Dear Guruji words cannot adequately express how much you mean to Dia, Ishani and I and how much you have given us. Thank you for your patience and diligence in teaching us, your continued care, encouragement and support, and in believing in us. Pranams in this Guru Purnima and every day 🙏🏼

Dearest Aunty - we miss you everyday. Thank you not only for the teaching but also for encouraging me to not only return to dance but to start teaching and performing again.

Always in my thoughts and in my heart

Dearest Archita Archita Kumar who would have known what a talented beautiful Kathak dancer that little four year old whose house I would come to dinner for when I was just a child myself would become. I am so thankful to be taking my new steps and Kathak journey under your guidance - thank you for believing in me enough to make this mature Bharatanatyam exponent a potential Kathak dancer too 🙏🏼
♥️

Dearest Divya Divya Kasturi let me take this opportunity on the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima to thank you from my heart for becoming my guide and teacher - for helping me to navigate the complexities of performing as a mature artist and for encouraging and supporting me and for believing in me, even when I struggle to believe in myself at times. I am so grateful for that first discussion and for your enthusiasm for my ideas and your dedication in bringing those ideas to fruition. I am thankful for our growing and evolving

Celebrating my beautiful and immensely dedicated adult dancers. Most of this team were beginners, driven by a deep desire to learn Bharatanatyam having not had the opportunity to learn when they were younger or having had limited opportunity (so learning for a short period of time when they were children). All of these women have full-time jobs and families to care for, and they rarely miss a class. As well as attending class, I see a week on week improvement in their performances and their (dance) through the dedication that they have in their practice even arranging practice sessions together whenever they can. A number of these ladies will be taking their grade exams in the new academic year. Adult classes are available for both beginners and students who have danced previously, both are Broughton and Shenley branches. With our oldest adult students being in her 60s it goes to show that you are never too old to Dance. (Credit: for editing)

Satyam dance senior development team— this group of Young dancers aged between 11 and 26 is made up of students from grade 3 upwards including students undertaking advanced training through the Istd vocational pathway. The number of the students balance their Dance training alongside their full-time jobs, others are still in secondary school and some at university. Some of the students will often attend more than one class in the week when they’re able to. 📸: Events Media
