Satyam - Debbie Ganguli-Patel School of Indian Dance and Music

Established by Debbie Ganguli-Patel Satyam Dance is dedicated to the teaching of Bharatanatyam Dance using time honoured traditional teaching methods.

Operating as usual

Thank you so much to our friends and supporters for helping to donate towards the costumes for our primary group (new grade one having sat their exams last weekend). The students wanted to thank you all too and today they were measured for their new Costumes ready for our annual show Natyanjali on the 30th of June The Place Theatre.

We still need to raise funds to provide our new grade 2 and grade 3 students with Costumes and to provide all of the girls with jewellery to wear on stage.

Everything we buy for the girls will last them for years Costumes are passed down from Class to Class as the girls grow and jewellery is worn time and time again for our performances

In the past I’ve always funded this from school fees however this year I decided to take the show into a professional theatre and provide a professional photographer for the girls so that they have a good memory of the event.

I am also providing an opportunity for three professional artists to perform at the event. This is a paid opportunity.

As a result, I am trying to raise funds for the Costumes via our go fund me fundraiser

To all our friends and supporters any help that you can offer no matter how small or big is greatly appreciated and as I have said before I will be pledging 10% of sales to the British Heart Foundation in memory of my late parents - who are the reason why I am able to teach Dance to the next generation of South Asian dances today.

Thank you again to all those who have given their support so far

Please do follow the link to our GoFundMe page and help us out if you can

The new term at Satyam Dance starts this Monday - and we begin the term with students taking exams next weekend for primary, grade one and two. During Easter we have managed to fit in some extra revision sessions including this one yesterday evening where I was joined by my daughter and Satyam senior dancer Ishani assisting in the preparation.
Looking forward to getting through the exams, and then spending this term preparing for our function Natyanjali 2024 which takes place at the place theatre Bedford on the 30th of June. Alongside our own little dancers, I am pleased to say that the stage will be graced by professional artists in the second half details coming soon…

Happy Ugadi

Thanks to the generosity of our kind supporters you have helped to raise £335 so far (minus the fees taken by go fund me) - this is great and we thank you all so much - this is enough to provide costumes for our youngest girls but we are still quite a way off raising the funds for the Grade 1 group and for any jewellery - can you help, if you haven’t already please consider donating and sharing - and in turn I will donate 10% of ticket sales to the heart foundation 🙏🏼Thank you from all of us

Thank you once again to the Bhavan for including us in their World Dance Day celebrations on 28th April 2024 - this year I will be joining my adults students on stage performing a specially choreographed piece for the event - so I am super excited as I love the opportunity to perform with my students,. Watch this space for more details in the forthcoming weeks.

Really touched by the donations received so far giving me enough to get 4 out of the 15 Costumes already. Students are on Easter break and as soon as they come back we’ve got exams followed by lots and lots of practice and rehearsals ready for the 30th of June. We’re all super excited for our first big annual show. If anyone’s around in Milton Keynes on the 8th of April, come and see our 11 to 19-year-old group performing at Stars Of Tomorrow. in the meantime, thank you so much for those of you have already donated for your support. It means so much to me and the students to have your support, enabling us to get some beautiful new costumes for show, and for future events. Thank you also to all of the local groups who support us throughout the year, inviting the girls to perform. We really enjoy attending your functions.

As we come to the end of the Spring term I had a lively surprise on Monday from parent and adult dance student Kalyani Narapuram who presented me with a SHE Award from last weekend the recently inaugurated MK Utsav who I am happy to support celebrated Women’s Day which sadly I couldn’t attend. Thank you for this lovely surprise and honour 🥰

Thank you to our lovely supporters who have started the fundraising giving me enough for two costumes and jewellery sets so far.
Really appreciate you help 🙏🏼

The students and I are super excited in a couple of weeks. The girls will be taking their exams after which we will be working full steam ahead for a very first annual show to take place in a professional theatre. Natyanjali (festival of dance) will take place on the 30th of June at The Place Theatre Bedford, and for lots of the students, this will be their very first time dancing in a theatre.
Since I started Satyam Dance I have always bought costumes and jewellery where possible for the students from school funds so as not to put any pressure on parents however, with a growing school there are increasing costs for studio hire as well as the costs for our performance in terms of theatre and technical hire, so I’m looking to friends of Satyam Dance for help to purchase new costumes for our youngest dancers aged 5 to 11. As a thank you I will be donating 10% of ticket sales to the British Heart Foundation in memory of my late parents who both passed away as a result of heart conditions, the students and I would like to thank all of our supporters in advance for their help in getting us ready for stage 🙏🏼
