Today, The Michaelchurch Explorers Club (Oak Class) set off on an adventure to find the true source of the mighty River Monnow. After a challenging track, the team identified the source of this great watercourse, trickling out below some rocks on the flanks of Hay Bluff. The source was actually around 30m lower down than when we went on the same trip 2 years ago. We'd like to say a huge thank you to the volunteers who joined us on the trip and to the very kind Craswalleans who allowed us to park in their field.

Today we had the most excellent, whole school water fight. Children and staff - and an ex-pupil - used a variety of water guns to ensure that no one left the field dry! And, mindful of the very dry weather we've been having, we only used about 1.5L of water per person!

We had 2 lovely performances of our summer outdoor production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, today. The weather behaved itself and we were able to relax in the glorious setting of our school grounds while the children performed this Shakespeare classic. The children were magnificent and they acted and sang their socks off! They also looked fantastic thanks to our brilliant costume team. Thank you to everyone who came along to watch and who supported in any way.

Today we held our annual 'Bay to Hay' mountain bike ride across the mountains to Hay-on-Wye. In glorious weather, 27 children and 11 adults - governors, parents, staff and Mrs Rowe's son Kieran - set off from school bound for Hay. With great determination and resilience, the children, from Year 3 to Year 6, pushed themselves on and overcame rocky tracks and neverending hills (both up and down) before finally arriving in Hay to the cheers and applause of their waiting families. And what better reward for their efforts than a delicious Shepherds ice cream! Thank you so much to everyone who supported this event, especially the adults who came along & it couldn't happen without you. And finally, well done children, you were absolutely amazing!

Sapling and Oak Class had a brilliant time yesterday at the Herefordshire School Games at the Halo Leisure Centre in Hereford yesterday. Along with dozens of other schools and hundreds of other children, they competed in golf, football and hockey tournaments, showing great enthusiam and sportsmanship. Not only that, Pippa from Sapling Class received a special medal for kindness and Oak Class received the 'Passion' trophy for their enthusiasm for the competition. A big thank you to the parents who joined us - you were an enourmous help!
