Ynysfach Works, Ynysfach Engine House, Ynysfach1: This site was once an ironworks and blast furnace, where many people died in horrific accidents or were murdered. The ghosts of a pr******te, a bare-knuckle fighter, and a man found in a cistern are among the restless spirits that haunt this place. The area is now a college, but the paranormal activity continues.

Llancaiach Fawr Manor, Treharris, Merthyr Tydfil1: This is labelled as “The Most Haunted House in South Wales” and has been featured on TV shows like Most Haunted. The manor was built in the 16th century and was the home of Edward Pritchard, a supporter of King Charles I during the Civil War. Many strange things are experienced here, such as the scent of lavender and roast beef, the ghost of a housekeeper who died here, and a little boy who fell from a window. A mysterious pentacle was also found hidden within the walls, which may have been used for protection or cursing.

Cyfarthfa Castle, Cyfarthfa Park, Merthyr Tydfil2: This castle was built in 1824 by William Crawshay II, the “Iron King” who ruled the iron industry in the town. He is said to haunt the castle, and some say he was buried upside down to contain his evil soul. A Chinese vase that was used to collect the severed heads of rebels in the Boxer Rebellion is also kept in the castle, and it causes a feeling of dread to anyone near it. Other phenomena include unexplained footsteps, cold spots, and a sense of being watched.

Koolers Nightclub, The Kirkhouse Memorial, Dynevor Street1: This nightclub is located in a former church that was built in 1869. It is said to be haunted by the ghost of a priest who hanged himself in the bell tower, and by the spirits of children who died in a fire that broke out in the Sunday school. People have reported hearing screams, laughter, and singing, as well as seeing apparitions and orbs.
