Great two days at the FAW National Coaching Conference at the Celtic Manor — learning, developing, and reconnecting with coaches and friends I’ve met throughout the game over the years. From meeting coaches in Holland, to crossing paths with some in the UAE, coaching alongside side some in wales and now reconnecting again in Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 football really is a small world.

There were plenty of valuable takeaways from the conference, particularly around how the modern game continues to evolve and the importance of adaptability as coaches and leaders. It was a privilege to hear insights from Jurgen Klopp, Roberto Martinez, and Russell Martin on a variety of topics, alongside excellent sessions delivered by Gaël Clichy, Craig Bellamy, Carl Robinson, Nuri Şahin and many others.

An incredibly insightful few days, and huge credit to the FAW for delivering an outstanding conference.

🚀 Meet Connor James – S&C Lead for the JMSS High Performance Camp!

JMSS will be working in partnership with Connor for the high performance camp.

Connor brings elite experience from The PT Room, specialising in building strong, fast, explosive athletes. His coaching is all about Strength. Speed. Power.
From football to boxing and BJJ, he’s trained with top pros and knows exactly what it takes to perform at the highest level.

Over the six weeks in the high performance camp, he’ll be pushing players to become stronger, quicker, and more resilient on and off the pitch.

We’ve had great early interest in our High Performance Camp, running throughout the six-week holidays. With limited spaces available, three quarters of the places are already filled since yesterday evening.

The programme includes:

•⁠ ⁠30-minute Zoom consultation with each player to create their Individual Development Plan (IDP)
•⁠ ⁠6-week structured training programme
•⁠ ⁠12 small group training sessions
•⁠ ⁠Futsal session
•⁠ ⁠6 individual 1-to-1 coaching sessions
•⁠ ⁠6 recovery sessions
•⁠ ⁠12 Strength & Conditioning sessions (A, B & C)

Nice to be back on the grass and Back where it all started today in Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿with Zak and Finn.

Today’s main session focus was Dribbling:

• Activation
• Ball mastery
• Dribbling (adding in Jérémy Doku and Phil Foden turns)

We also added finishing into the session to bring everything together ⚽️

Due to the current uncertainty in the Middle East, I’ll be staying in Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 for a few extra days/weeks. This weekend, I’ll be running some private and small-group coaching sessions.

What a start to 2026 — both professionally and personally.

As the winter season comes to a close, it feels like the right time to reflect on what has been an incredibly busy and rewarding few weeks. Straight after the break, we went straight back into the thick of it with tournaments alongside our YFL league fixtures — and it has certainly been non-stop.

U8s Abu Dhabi Cup
Reached the semi-finals, losing on penalties to PSG Russia

JPL GCC Abu Dhabi Cup
Proud to lead the U9s to become champions 🏆

Mina Cup
A fantastic experience at the prestigious Mina Cup, where the U8s reached the quarter-finals, losing to a strong Precision side who went on to win the tournament.

VW Cup
Led the U10s to the final, losing on penalties to Liverpool Academy UAE — a tournament and performances to be proud of.

And to top it off, this week the U8s secured the YFL League title in Dubai, going unbeaten all season — a fantastic achievement.

On a personal level, it’s been intense and demanding, but also incredibly rewarding. Competing in different tournament formats against high-level opposition has provided constant learning opportunities and pushed both myself and the players to keep improving.

The biggest credit goes to the players across all age groups. Their attitude, resilience and professionalism have been outstanding. They’ve represented themselves and the club with real class, and it’s been a privilege to coach, prepare and build strong relationships with them over the weeks of preparation and competition.

A brilliant start to 2026 — and we’re only just getting going.
