Ever heard of a website called Bark? It’s a place where you can request to find people for all manner of things, including tutoring.
I was on it when I first started tutoring - how many students did I get from it? None. Not because I wasn’t the best person for the student, but because I wasn’t the first to respond. Up to five people can answer each advert, and it costs the Tutor’s money each time they do.
Why do I bring this up now? Bark contacted me this morning and offered me a lead for free, so I took them up on it. since then my inbox has been inundated with notifications from Bark - and one caught my eye, as the location given was Maryport.
Had they just gone to google and asked for ‘Maths tutors near me’ my details would have come up. We could have had a chat with no obligations about what they were looking for.
So, as the GCSE results have come out today, if your child didn’t get a grade 4 please contact me for a chat. Even if you are not sure about whether you want tutoring I am happy to give advice and guidance on next steps for your son or daughter, whether they be going to 6th Form, College, work or an apprenticeship.
