🏃‍♂️ MSM Parkrun Takeover – Key Details for Next Saturday! 🏃‍♀️

Hi everyone!

Following on from our announcement last week, excitement is really building for our Marlborough Common Parkrun Takeover on Saturday 19th September (9:00 AM)!

Whether you're running, jogging, walking, or cheering, here is some important info from the Marlborough Common Parkrun team to help make the morning run smoothly:

👟 Guidelines for Children:

Under 11s: Must run or walk within arm's reach of a responsible adult at all times (parkrun rules allow up to 4 children per adult).

11 and Over: Can run or walk unaccompanied, but a responsible adult must remain on The Common during the event.

Buggy Friendly: Buggies and pushchairs are very welcome!

🐶 Dogs & Parking:

Dogs: You are welcome to bring a dog (one per participant), kept on a short, hand-held lead (no extendable or waist leads).

Parking: Free parking is available right on The Common (entrance off Frees Avenue).

If you or your child plan to run or walk, please take a minute to register for free before Saturday and bring your personal barcode with you:

📸 Event Photos:
The Parkrun team takes photos to share on their social media. If you or your child prefer not to be included in photos, simply let the Parkrun team know on the morning.

📚❤️ A wonderful legacy from an extraordinary woman

Sad news today with the announcement that Dolly Parton has passed away.

Dolly was the driving force behind Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, an incredible worldwide initiative which gives children the gift of books from the very beginning of their lives.

We are incredibly proud that Marlborough St Mary’s is part of this initiative, through our own local scheme, Imagination Marlborough. It is something that makes our school quite special—not just because of the books we are able to give children, but because of the role we can play in supporting children and families across our wider community.

Through the scheme, children in the Marlborough area can receive a free, carefully selected book every month from birth until they turn five. We currently have more than 200 families taking part, with over 230 children having already graduated from the scheme. 📖❤️

We know how important early access to books can be in developing children's language, imagination, confidence and, most importantly, a lifelong love of reading.

I’ll be talking about the difference the scheme is making here in Marlborough on BBC News at 9:45pm tonight.

The BBC have also asked us for photographs of our children enjoying their books, so I’ve shared a few from our website (all with the appropriate permissions). Keep your eyes peeled—you might spot some familiar faces on the BBC tonight! 📺😊

Dolly may have gone, but the gift she created will continue to reach children and families for generations to come.

We are very proud to be part of that legacy here in Marlborough. ❤️📚

We thought you might like to see what the builders have been up to over the summer!

The Marlborough St Mary’s Family Centre build has really come on over the holidays. In these photos you can see the future main nursery room, the Family First room and even the view from the new upstairs window, where families will be able to receive support from professionals across health, family support and social care.

There is still plenty to do, but it is fantastic to see our vision for the Family Centre starting to become a reality.

We are still raising funds to help make our Family Centre and nursery one of the very best in the country — a place that will make a real difference to children and families in Marlborough for years to come.

A huge thank you to our amazing staff, children and families for another year of hard work and teamwork. 👏
