HorseSense UK

HorseSense UK We offer wellbeing, leadership and team development to individuals and groups for children and adults from 4+.

HorseSense UK is an Equine Facilitated Learning business situated just south of Tunbridge Wells, in the beautiful Sussex countryside. It offers individuals and companies the chance to learn key leadership, communication and wellbeing skills in a novel and unique way. Easy to learn from and profoundly accurate in their assessment, horses have an uncanny knack of knowing just what it is you need to

learn, and delivering it with compassion. On the ground horse-led interactions help people to understand more about themselves and the challenges they face. Valued for it's ability to get right to the point, bring people back to key principles and unlocking resourcefulness and creativity within ourselves, an Equine Facilitated Learning session is one that delivers well beyond the training session and isn't easy to forget.

Our latest blog explaining how we integrate new people into the horses environment and why we do it that way.

HorseSense first began in 2010, with 3 wonderful horses that retired from conventional ridden work into supporting people from the ground to understand themselves and the world around them better. Horses have been shaping my life since birth, teaching me respect, accountability, non-verbal communica...

What is your experience with learning? Most of us can recount a time where we were too disregulated and anxious to learn anything other than how to cope with being scared and unheard.

But can you remember a time when you learnt easily?

The chances are, you didn't realise you were learning because it was playful, exciting and felt good.
Here at HorseSense UK we strive to do the latter. Playful, engaging learning with horses with a very broad curriculum.

Sometimes we'll learn to be calm, other times we'll learn how to be a bit more animated and encouraging.
Sometimes we'll learn about the dietary recommendations for horses according to the experts and sometimes we'll ask the herd directly what plants they like.

Sometimes we'll learn about our own felt experience and other times we'll learn to listen to the experiences of others.

The list of what we can explore with horses is endless.
Here at HorseSense UK we offer individual and group learning sessions for children that learn best through being immersed in the subject they're learning about.
On 4th September we're starting a 6-week Pony Group for children aged 10 & 11 to learn from themselves, each other and our herd of 3 New Forest ponies.

Based in Mark Cross, East Sussex the group offers a 1 hour immersion into the world of horses in a quiet location and all weather facilities.

We've been running these groups since 2021, helping children develop confidence, social skills, empathy and curiosity.

No previous experience of horses required, though a love of animals and being outdoors is essential.

We offer Taster Sessions for those that would like to see our set up and ensure we are a good fit. Follow the link on the infographic to learn more.

Bad night. Poor sleep, minimal food. The humans had a big yellow thing in the field yesterday and now this gateway looks different. I couldn't walk past it to the straw and the sandschool and the others left me behind.
Had to stay all night in the yard. Not happy. πŸ˜£πŸ¦„

Hoof hospital today as Becci deals with our white line disease using a chlorine dioxide product. Thanks to her chemistry A-level she understands words like dioxide and knows the product literature is correct when it says mixing the liquid with a vinegar (low pH) will produce a safe gas for horses but deadly for bacteria and fungi.
It's just one of the many examples that she's grateful for her education, even if she tells me she found chemistry hard!
Just earlier in the week she was geeking out on hay analysis looking at mineral concentrations and calculating whether we were getting enough minerals in our diet. We weren't, but now she knows exactly how much mineral balancer we need, which is half to a quarter of the manufacturers recommendations.
Having the foundation knowledge to look at problems from first principles is a big bonus in our book. It means our income goes further and we are healthier.
How has education proved to be useful in your life?
