The first line I'd draw if I was starting again.
Yesterday's high. That's it.
On Monday gold topped out at 4,198.9. Today it pushed through that line at lunchtime, then slipped back under it by mid-afternoon.
One line, no indicators, no clutter, and the chart still had something to say about it.
Tomorrow, maybe pop yesterday's high on your own chart and just watch what happens around it.

Calm hours and busy hours ⏰
I took the last 20 days of gold and measured how far it moved in each hour, UK time.
The 13:00 hour was the busiest on average, about $29 from high to low. Midnight was the quietest, about $9.
I do my planning in the calm and keep my eyes open when the busy hours come round.
If you've ever wondered why the chart wakes up after lunch, this is a nice place to start.

How I plan the next session, in about two minutes.
Step one is always the same. I zoom right out: six months of daily closes on one screen.
On that view, today's 4,193 sits much nearer the bottom of the six-month range than the top. That's context, not a signal.
Then I zoom into the hourly and mark my levels. Big picture first makes the small stuff feel a lot calmer.
Give it a go tonight: zoom all the way out before you look at anything else.

Since 28 Sept, gold has dipped into the 4,130–4,155 area on five different days. Today's low was 4,130.7, right at the bottom of it.
Before London opens tomorrow, that's the first thing on my chart. Not a prediction, just a place where I want to see how price behaves.
Worth a look on your own chart if you've got two minutes.

Every evening I look back at the day before I plan the next one. Overnight it sat in a box between 4,130.7 and 4,179.6. After London opened, it pushed above the top of that box and ran to about 4,208.
I don't need to have caught it. I just like seeing what the chart did and where.
